Gist-magic has the best angst factor

i remember there was one quote where Anton referred to his gist as his "chosen discipline" that kinda shook me because from the way it was always written it kinda sounded like he resented his magic so id assumed it was "natural" like Fletcher's teleportation but if he chose it then I'm like tryin to figure out why so like maybe

Cocky young Anton thinks "haha im strong enough to be able to deal with this thing no biggie" and then like years down the line kicking himself for his youthful arrogance

Angsty Anton knows he needs an outlet for all his anger and bad thoughts anyway who thinks "I already have a dozen demons, what's the harm in adding one more?"
