Progress

So, if anyone was questioning the complete silence from this blog, that doesn't mean that we've stopped working on it. Though admittedly, progress has been rather slow. But, to tide you all over and hopefully get you all excited, I'll start releasing little intro tidbits of the 12 main characters of Shufflestuck, so keep an eye out for them! I'll be posting the first one shortly... as soon as I decide on who to start with.

Well, too bad, I'm saving that little tidbit for later. For now, I'll let you know their ancestors, and of course, I'll leave them out of any order, so no trying to guess blood colors!

Who are these Douchebags?

So, I think it's about time we introduce ourselves. I'll let Kylin do her own introduction. But I figure I'll give you a bit of background on how this all began while I'm at it.

I'm Dan, I'm the writer and original creator of Shufflestuck (though it'd be unfair if I didn't say that Kylin has contributed more than enough to consider herself a creator as well). I first read homestuck about a year ago, I think (has it really been that long?) I remember that I had finally caught up just in time for the scratch.

Anyway, I've always had an interest in writing, and I'm actually also working a full novel of my own (but I won't shamelessly plug, it's not even close to done). I'm also a huge fan of video games, computers, and... well, pretty much anything else nerdy. While I might not be acquainted with all of the big ones yet, I haven't met a fandom I didn't like, and that goes double for Homestuck.

The concept of Shufflestuck actually began with just one or two fantrolls (I'll let you guys guess which ones), and from there, I just decided. "I've already got a few, why not just make a full 12 fantrolls?" So I eventually did, adn I was pretty satisfied. But now I had all these characters... but nothing to do with them. I'm certainly not artistic enough to draw them, and just writing a story wouldn't really be enough, considering the medium of Homestuck. So, I came up with the idea of Shufflestuck.

I needed an artist, and did I find a great one! I just popped a message onto Kylin's tumblr after noticing some of her work, and she was just as enthusiastic as I was! I'll leave her story to her, though.

Anyway, this post has started to get pretty long winded, any longer and I might have to start throwing in some 6's and 9's just to seem normally long. If you see a post from me, chances are it's related to the plot or characters directly, so be warned that some may have spoilers. THIS IS YOUR WARNING NOW. Alongside Kylin's concept art, I'll start posting concept dialogues and various things like that. They won't be canon, but they might give you some insight into the characters, or into my thought process. Or just at some ideas that were scrapped.

What is Shufflestuck?

Shufflestuck is a fan adventure based on the universe of Homestuck on mspaintadventures.com

If you haven't read it or even heard of it, I highly reccomend that you go check it out. Now, if you already knew about all that...

Let me tell you about Shufflestuck:

Shufflestuck takes place in the same universe as the canon story, beginning with 12 troll friends, spanning the hemospectrum. While these trolls may technically live on the same planet as the canon trolls, they don't really interact or interfere with each other. After all, Alternia's a big planet, and they don't really have a reason to give a fuck about each other.

Shufflestuck is a story of mistakes, developing an entirely unique story from the canon because of the mistakes that each character makes. All the concepts that you know and love about Homestuck will be there. Skaia and Strife, Sylladexes and Shipping, and maybe even things that don't start with the letter s!

Shufflestuck is still in it's early writing phases, but it's currently in progress and will be posted up on mspfanventures.com before you know it! So we just ask that you sit tight, enjoy the ride, and if you have any questions, the ask box is always open.
