Shuo Hsiao 蕭賀碩 live at forgood café, a beautiful 3 song set!   =D

She plays one song solo, then brings up her husband Alex Pryrodny to accompany her on piano, and then summons 古晧 Hao (Howard) Ku to do a duet on his (?) song, You Are So Beautiful.

Alex is a Ukrainian-born jazz pianist based in NYC, but he spends part of the year in Taiwan. He plays the jazz clubs like Sappho and Marsalis Bar, and has also played with Shuo Hsiao and Paige Su. You can hear his compositions and improvisations/interpretations at SoundCloud.

UPDATE: I just now realized that Shuo Hsiao is also at least partly based in NYC.  (a different fb than her band page)

If you haven't checked out this lady yet, you MUST. Shuo Hsiao won the golden melody awards this year for best composer, and it was for good reasons too! her songs are created around a relaxed atmosphere, unlike any I've ever heard before!

I haven’t translated the bands yet, but I did see right away that Aphasia is playing. There will be a protest events in solidarity with Occupy Central in Taipei, Taichung, and Kaohsiung (Pier 2) Besides public speakers, the *musicians announced at that link include Shuo Hsiao 蕭賀碩, Sheng-Xiang Lin (林生祥), Lu Sirong (羅思容), Chen Ming-chang (陳明章), APHASIA (阿飛西雅), 拷秋勤 Kou Chou Ching, 拍謝少年 Sorry Youth *Keep in mind, some of the names I listed may only be certain members of the band, not full bands in every case. The way the list was presented was kinda jumbled together; for example: 拍謝少年維尼 - which I think means 維尼 from 拍謝少年 (Sorry Youth).

"Stay... Staaaay... Staaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy..." Even if she never did anything else, this song alone would put Shuo Hsiao 蕭賀碩 into my TW Indies Hall of Fame. So full of power & emotion, even with just acoustic guitar accompaniment! This is from last weekend's MoriFest. It looks like her complete set is uploaded, just follow the clip back to YT. ----------------- By the way, I've been calling her Debbie Hsiao, but I saw a recent post on her fb that she prefers Shuo Hsiao: [多多少少有一些新朋友稱呼我Debbie, 我想應該是從維基百科上看到的，請問有人可以幫忙註解嗎？2008年的紐約行引發我改了自己的英文名字，I am Shuo. SHUO is my name and it really represents who I am.] She may be referring to the English wiki page for the 2008 Golden Melody Awards (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/19th_Golden_Melody_Awards) Her Chinese language wiki page lists her English name as Shuo Hsiao. As always, I appreciate any clarification = ??
