For Shy Technology, music wasn't a hobby, but a necessity. Back in December 2008, frontman David Coulson's life changed in the blink of an eye when he received a call from his mother, informing him that she had been diagnosed with stage-3 breast cancer. After quitting his job, dropping out of school, and driving all alone from Phoenix, Arizona back to his home in Villa Park, Illinois, Coulson made the decision to reconnect with old friends, start a band, and channel his struggles and stories into visceral indie rock music. After six and a half years, two EPs and one full-length, a few lineup changes, and a successful cancer battle for Coulson's mom, Shy Technology are embarking upon a new chapter.
