It’s a bittersweet tale about lovers becoming friends that Shylde discloses on the mysterious Swedish artist’s new song, On My Own. He delivers that story with a silken smooth, sweet cooing voice, surrounded by entrancing dynamic production, combining soulful pop with vibrant shifting electronic pop. On My Own is a song that immediately takes hold of you, a pastel sweeping, emotive soaring number whose vocals remind me of another Swedish project, Sailor and I, but with the ruddy florid soundscape of Miike Snow and MGMT. Little is known about Swedish newcomer Shylde, but he's sure to have us all wondering about him with debut single Fickle. Shylde’s slick falsettos and the song’s sweeping melody are thoroughly mesmerizing. There’s no doubt he’s swept me off my feet with this spectacular first song, whose propulsive beats and glossy electronic sheen remind me of Miike Snow mixed with the alt R&B tendencies of Jack Garratt. I have a feeling we’ll know tons more about Shylde come 2016.
