It was my first solo trip outside the Philippines and it was fun. I chickened out the last minute to do DIY tours because I’ve read blogs that it’ll be walking (and commuting) all day. So to save my lazy ass some steps, I booked tours from Klook. Hahaha! Four days is so bitin. Will definitely go back and will do shopping next (because I didn’t shop for anything when I was there).

Looking back on it now, it is actually the passion and artistry of the performers through a classical dance form that ultimately leaves the longest lasting impression.   No matter how many costume changes the cast of over 100 must endure each night, you can see it in their faces how proud they are of their show, and of their country!   Who would have thought this Vegas-style cultural presentation was the attraction that really put the “Bang!” in Bangkok?

Siam Niramit

Watching Siam Niramit was part of my family's Thailand package tour two weeks ago. I arrived at the place without expecting much from the show. It's a cultural show, how interesting could it get? I was more excited to feast on the Thai buffet offered by the same company that produces the show.

After dinner, we entered the theater and the show started immediately. A few minutes into the show, I knew it was something special. The stage production was amazing, and the performers were all extremely talented.

Watching the show made me realize why most performers accuse Asian audience of being unappreciative. In general, I don't think we show enough appreciation to performers. This was highly evident during the curtain call, when most Western audience were on their feet clapping and cheering for the performers while almost everyone of the Asian audience were in a hurry to go out of the theater.

I recommend this show to everyone visiting Thailand. If you're like me, this may not be the best show to learn about Thai culture because you'll be distracted by the colorful costumes and dramatic set changes, but it sure is a great way to witness Thai ingenuity and talent.
