When my parents moved back from Mexico in 1970, my sister and I bought a Dual turntable and a Shure cartridge. I built a solid state preamp for it - I was studying electronics at Uni by then - and bought a valve amp kit from Cibot Radio in Paris, the place for the DIY enthusiast for decades…
Then I built my first full range speakers out of a 17cm driver from Siare.
All was then built into what we could call a console with storage for our vinyls.
As my amp was on all the time, it was always a few degrees warmer in my room than in the rest of the apartment 😜
