Caught up with Sahitya Akademi Award winner in Odia, Susmita Bagchi at Sharjah International Book Fair 2015.
Sakeena Mushtaq Habib, Second Year Media & Communication student from Manipal University Dubai, updated a podcast on an inspirational session by the well-known motivational speaker Tanzila Khan. The session was held at the Book Forum on 13th November 2015, as part of the 34th Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF).
The session was moderated by Mohammad Gobashi and was based on the life story, the challenges Tanzila overcame and her success of writing books, despite being born with the disability to walk. Her new book “Surpassing Limits” is launching soon at the Sharjah Book Fair!

Sakeena Mushtaq Habib, Second Year Media & Communication student from Manipal University Dubai, brings us a podcast from the symposium panel titled as “Writing Negative and Facing the Present” held at the Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) on Wednesday, 4th November at the Expo Centre. The symposium presented 3 distinguished guests who shared their knowledge, as well as their experience on the importance of writing while ‘’facing the current situation’’. Writer and poet, Habib Al Sayegh, also Chief Chairman of Gulf News in the UAE, served his opinion on aggressive writing. UK writer, journalist and broadcaster John McCarthy, who has worked for BBC and Al Jazeera shared his experiences while being held as hostage for 5 years in Lebanon. And, Moni Mohsin, is a Pakistani author based in London, well-known for her debut-novel: “The Diary of a Social Butterfly”.
The 34th Sharjah International Book Fair witnessed award-winning poet/novelist Ben Okri’s charisma and passion as he sat down for an interview with Jacks Thomas, director of The London Book Fair at the Social Media Station on its opening day – November 4, 2015.
Ben Okri, award-winning author of “The Famished Road” and “The Age of Magic” attracted a crowd of hundreds to the Social Media station as the interview began. The discussion started with the author’s interest towards fairy tales, and then went onto topics such as reality, happiness, fame, power of language, etc.
