As Rory transitioned into an infant, the house was filled with a new wave of joy and excitement. Ashlee and Briar couldn't help but smile at their family.

The door creaked open, and the midwife stepped inside, her demeanor calm and professional, yet warm. “How are we doing?” she asked, her eyes darting to Ashlee's focused expression.

“I’m okay, just… very much feeling the contractions,” Ashlee replied, her voice steadying as she spoke.

“Great job, Ashlee. You’re doing wonderfully. Let’s check on the baby, shall we?” The midwife moved closer, ready to help guide them through the next steps.

As she settled beside them, Briar felt a rush of gratitude for the calmness she brought into the room. He held Ashlee’s gaze, their connection unbreakable amidst the anticipation of what was to come.
