i dont know if youre taking requests but id like one where kevin and the reader are married (still living in the bunker) and kevin gets a fever or something like that and the reader takes care of him? thank you!!
I can do that! Prepare for schmoop!!!!!—-
You’d never considered that you’d end up the wife of a prophet. But really, in the 21st century, who would? All those long dead people in dusty books preserved behind glass in museums could reasonably be seen as legitimate keepers of God’s word, but an AP student from Michigan? Ridiculous.
Apparently not. When you first met Kevin all you saw was meat. The kid was as good as dead. Dean told you on the phone that they’d picked up a “prophet of the lord” and you’d been reasonably inquisitive, but he followed it up quickly with “the kid’s gonna have a panic attack just about every five minutes.” It wasn’t until you hooked up with the Winchesters on a case that you actually met Kevin Tran, Prophet of the Lord, in person. He was polite, obviously raised with good manners, but too soft, too sweet. He wouldn’t last. Except he did. You kept in touch after a few meetings, calls and texts mostly, occasionally skype calls when the Wi-Fi was good in your motel. You’re not really sure how it happened, but one day it just hit you. You’d somehow fallen in love with the kid.
“I’m not younger than you.” He reminded you constantly, “Actually I’m three months older.”“Life experience though, I think I’ve got you beat.” You’d smile back. You had started finding excuses to visit the Men of Letters bunker, even without a hunt. “I was nearby, Sam owes me dinner from the last time, I was bored.”Eventually the Winchesters picked up that all that was code for “I miss Kevin.” All that was a two years ago, and since then your life has flipped on its head. You’ve gone from being unattached and hard to completely smitten with your prophet. And, as the silver ring on your finger proudly reminded you, married. Officially Mrs. Kevin Tran. “My Prophetess.” He calls you now, you looked it up, and apparently it was something a lot of biblical prophet’s wives were called, a sort of an honorific. Even if no one else knew but the two of you, it’s become a shared pet name that makes you happy. Kevin’s grown hugely from that terrified kid you first met, surviving Leviathan and Demon tortures and generally staying alive when just about every bad thing on the planet wanted to kill him kicked him up a few rungs on the life experience ladder. This was exactly why you found his current situation hilarious. “Babe stop laughing at me, I’m dying here.” He wines, but he’s so stuffed up that it sounds more like “babe, dob laughing ad be, I’b dying here.” “It’s just the flu, you’ll be fine Kev,” You assure him and smooth back his sweaty hair. He’s been stuck in bed for two days now and shows no signs of improvement yet, hopefully you can get him to eat something today. “I’m going to go get you some orange juice ok, you stay under the covers.” You get up from where you’d been pressed against his side and he shivers at the loss of heat. “Shh, it’s ok baby, I’ll be right back.” You tuck the blankets tighter around him and he nods faintly closing his eyes. You sigh, smiling fondly as you exit the room and quietly close the door behind you. The walk back to the kitchen has you thinking of the last time you’d seen Kevin this helpless, and you’re a bit shocked to discover it was at your first meeting with him. You don’t like that realization at all, the person doesn’t exist anymore, and is certainly not who you’re married to, you’re so lost in thought that you run right into Dean in the kitchen doorway and jump back in surprise, “Sorry, my bad.” “Nah, don’t worry,” he assures you, and crosses back to the stove where he’s got something bubbling in a pot. “Wash your hands before you touch anything in my kitchen, you’re contaminated.” He orders without turning around and you laugh but follow the instruction anyway. “So, something on your mind?” He asks as you approach the fridge and dig for the jug of orange juice. “I’m just worried about Kevin, he’s pretty sick you know,”“Yeah, I can hear him blowing his nose all over the damn bunker,” Dean affirms. He’s adding some spice to whatever’s in the pot. “I just don’t like seeing him like this; it reminds me of before, like he was so helpless, and now I hate thinking about him like that.” You slam the fridge a little harder than necessary and Dean looks up from his pot. “He’s gonna be fine (Y/N), you know that right?” “Yeah, I don’t like it when he’s hurting.” You sigh, “I gotta get back to him.” “Wait, just let me,” Dena breaks off and grabs a bowel from the cabinet next to the stove and quickly ladles the mystery concoction out of the pot. “Here, this should help.” He hands you to bowel and you can see it’s some kind of red soup, “My mom used to make it, when I was sick, and I made it for Sam, and I mean, I’m sure the recipe has changed over the years, I don’t remember all the stuff that she put in it, but,” You cut him off with a quick peck on the cheek, “Thanks Dean, you’re the best.” You smile and he blushes. “Take care of our prophet, we need him.” He says with a little grin.When you get back to your room Kevin hasn’t moved from what you can tell. “Sweetie?” You say softly, and his eyelids flutter, “I brought you some soup,” “Not hungry.” He groans. “Kev, you gotta eat, come on babe, just a little bit.” You place the juice on the bedside table and sink onto the mattress with the bowel of tomato soup. He snuggles closer to your warmth and eyes the bowl with suspicion. “You didn’t cook did you?” He asks and you laugh, “No, we both know that doesn’t happen ever.” You reply. “Dean made it; he said it’s his mom’s old recipe.Kevin opens his mouth a little and you’re able to maneuver a spoonful of soup into it. After a minute he sighs happily and swallows. “Yum.” “Maybe you’re a little hungry?” You smile. “Here, sit up a little and it’ll be easier for both of us.” You coax him a little higher on the pillows and smile when he leans against your shoulder, even though he’s burning up, he’s shivering a little. “Hey babe?” He mumbles after another few bites. “Yeah?” You ask reaching out to stroke his arm. “I love you,” You giggle which wasn’t something you’d done a lot before you met him. Even with a sniffling, sweaty, slightly high on cold medicine husband resting against your side you’re happier than you’d ever imagined. “Love you too Kev.”
Nova was looking at the bookshelf, thinking of reading up on some of the men of letters research, when Kevin sneezed. She turned around and stepped over to Kevin. She wrapped her hands on his shoulders and gave them a gentle massage. "Bless you," She said, pecking the top of his head without thinking. "So um.. are you okay? Are you getting sick?"
Kevin sniffled slightly and shook his head. He took hold of her hands, and looked up at her. "Thanks, and no. I'm fine. I'm pretty sure I'm fine at least." He replied. Even so, his voice was slightly nasally, a sure sign of a stuffed nose, and if he said his throat didn't hurt even a little bit, well he'd be lying. But no, he was convinced it wasn't that bad, and he definitely wasn't sick. He sniffed again. "Really, I'm okay."
so I made a thing based off of lacunta's prompt about a sick kevin and a doting double d so yeah. enjoy~
It started with a cough.
A cough that came from the deep insides of Kevin’s chest, shaking his whole body and making his throat wheeze with stress. Edd, walking beside him on their way up to Edd’s front door, stopped looking through his bag with a jump.
“Oh my, Kevin! Are you well?” Edd asked, his face furrowed with concern. Kevin nodded, but ended bringing up an elbow to his mouth and letting out a series of hacking coughs.
“Yeah, I’m fine,” he added reassuringly, even though his throat felt drier than the Sahara and tears had formed in the corners of his eyes. He cleared his throat, and pulled the shorter fellow into a hug. Edd pushed away slightly though, his face in a grimace.
“Kevin, I believe you may have contracted a virus.”
“I’m not sure...,” Edd responded, but his boyfriend quieted him with a kiss on the lips. He melted for a few moments, completely forgetting about the worrying cough that had come from the other not even two minutes prior. They kissed on the front steps and probably could have kept going, until Kevin pulled away and let out another series of coughs. Edd winced. Kevin chuckled again, goosing his boyfriend before turning back and going down the front steps.
“I’ll see you later, Dorko.” He called out, coughing again into his elbow.
“Kevin!” Edd yelled back, but either Kevin ignored him, or merely did not hear him, and kept walking. He let out a sigh, unable to calm his rambling thoughts of boyfriend’s well-being as he let himself into his home.
~~~
Edd had begun to notice the daily routine Kevin followed in the morning. He usually woke up the rumbling of his boyfriend’s motorcycle as he drove to school for early baseball practice. But when the familiar noise didn’t sound out and Edd almost didn’t wake up in time, and when Kevin was not waiting for Double D at his locker with a kiss and a pleasant “Good morning, Dorko”, Edd knew something was up.
Kevin must be under the weather.
Edd shot straight back to the culdesac once the ending bell rang, his backpack housing his and his boyfriend’s homework for the night, and knocked on Kevin’s door. His mind reeled with theories to what Kevin had contracted. Finally, the door creaked open.
The lights were off and the blind were pulled down, revealing a very dark interior despite how bright the sun was outside. But what worried Edd was what was standing in front of him: Kevin was shirtless with flannel pajama pants, and wrapped in what looked to be his comforter pulled from his bed. His nose was red, his eyes were watery, but his signature red hat was still sitting atop his head. He looked miserable.
“Hey,” he croaked, smiling at the shorter brunette. Kevin leaned in to give Edd a kiss, but was shocked to find him pulling away with a grimace on his face.
“I apologize but we are not having any kind of contact if you are feeling so unwell. It’s very reckless, and I don’t want to end up sick in my own home with this virus.”
“I’m fine, I,” the ill redhead started to croak in a hoarse voice, a result of the cold, but ended up letting out a series of coughs and a sniffle.
“Yes, because you are obviously fine. Thank goodness you stayed home from school today or else you would have put everyone at risk for this. I brought the homework you missed.” Edd started to dig around his bag for the papers, as Kevin leaned against the doorframe, closing his eyes and pulling the blanket closer around him. “Here,” Edd held the papers out, but one look at his boyfriend in such a miserable state made his heart ache. He grabbed Kevin’s free hand, and went inside the house, pulling Kevin with him.
“What, what are you doing?”
Double D shushed him and pushed Kevin back onto the couch. “Sit here. Don’t speak.” He placed his book bag beside the sick redhead, and pulled out a mini whiteboard and marker, previously used for school activities. “Write your inquiries on that instead.”
Kevin lodged the cap in his mouth, pulling the marker out and scribbling on the board.
“That’s so unsanitary.”
Kevin snorted, and then held up the board.
diagnose me doctor dorko
Edd placed onto the book bag on the floor and sat down next to his boyfriend, keeping a little space in between them. “Well, we need to discuss what your symptoms are. Runny nose, sore throat, cough. It seems that you have nasopharyngitis.”
?????
“The common cold.” Edd smiled.
i don’t like being sick fix me
“What have you eaten today? Have you taken any ibuprofen?”
i took some shit my mom left out on the counter
“What about nourishment?”
Kevin shook his head, and then Edd could hear his stomach growl loudly.
“Kevin! You must be famished! Please wait here, I will return shortly.”
Fifteen minutes later, Double D returned to the home, a steaming pot of homemade chicken noodle soup in his hands and a surgical mask covering his nose and mouth. Kevin snapped one of the straps, smirking as Edd swatted his hand away.
“I am taking the necessary precautions so I do not become ill as well.”
Kevin wanted to do nothing but rip that mask off and smash his lips against Double D’s. Having his boyfriend worry over him better than his other mother would was amazing, and he wanted to pull him close, wrap him in his blanket, and never let go. But instead, Kevin swallowed down the soup his boyfriend had made, the broth warming him like the sun was inside his stomach. He chugged it down in minutes.
that was some damn good soup dorko
“It’s a fairly simple recipe to follow, if you would like to have it.”
it won’t be as good if i make it
you make it delicious
Before Edd could even protest, Kevin leaned over and his head landed in the smaller boy’s lap. His hat fell off along the way, revealing his messy orange hat hair, and he curled up against Edd. In mere minutes, he was asleep.
Edd pulled the surgical mask off and gave his boyfriend a kiss on his cheek, on a patch of unshaven roughness that felt amazing against Edd’s lips. And rather than leave in Kevin’s time of need, Edd started to run his hand through his red hair, a rare occurrence that he would rather take up now instead of regretting later. And in minutes, he was asleep too.
