In some small measure, fanfiction is more widespread than I think people realize. The remakes of Dracula that respawn every few years? Fanfiction. The generous retellings of fairytale stories that get retold with every other new book or movie? Fanfiction.

Just because it's not some big name behind the script doesn't mean it's suddenly a "real" story. Please keep writing your stories and making your art of your favorites. If nothing else, it's a way to practice and find your style.

The Fight Club fandom is kind of obsessed with quoting and reusing lines, so we end up with gems like this:

Normalize self expression. Normalize piercings, tattoos (yes, even face tattoos), unnatural hair colors and intricate hair cuts. Normalize wearing crowns or huge bows or animal ears. Normalize body modifications of any kind. Normalize aesthetics. From pastel to cyberpunk all the way to scenecore, be what makes you happy, and normalize others doing the same. Stand out, don’t just make a statement, be a statement.
