Happy #TBT! Once upon a time, I had a 1st generation #MazdaRX7! It was a 1984 GS, and I traded my 1986 Nissan 300ZX and a scooter/ moped for it. When I bought it, it had a street ported, 12A #rotaryengine, with a #dellorto #sidedraft carburetor... I added various gauges, and added two blocks of #msdIgnition, changed out the coils and cables, and raced the hell out of it! On occasion, a fireball would shoot out the exhaust and bounce off the street, along w a loud POP! Driving this car was almost like driving a gocart ... I always had fun!!! I LOVED my RX-7! I was also part of the #MazdaRotary #carclub, and learned to do a lot of the mechanical work, to this car, myself. In time, I changed the engine to a #jspec 2nd generation #rx7 motor, with fuel injection and turbo. Of course, this meant adding a 3" straight pipe, and hooking up the intake manifold, and a few other things... like getting a mechanic to figure out the j-spec wiring harness that came w the engine! That was fun! Lol! I learned a lot about the #wankelengine and its history thanks to this car, and I became a bit of an amateur mechanic for 4 years thanks to this car as well! I hope to own and restore one again sometime. Happy Thursday!
