I just finished reading Side Effects May Vary and I shed a couple of tears for it. With Alice having cancer and eventually getting over it as the main plot, I knew it would most likely make me cry, especially since I fell in love with Harvey. Harvey who's only fault was falling head over heels in love with Alice.
I still got my happy ending but not before thinking my heart wouldn't recover from the heartbreaking things Alice set Harvey to - manipulating him into helping out with the list when she was diagnosed then ignoring him after going into remission; meeting, being and even choosing Eric for a while; being actually jealous and heartbroken when Harvey found Deborah and letting go of Harvey when she was also completely in love with him.
I was even prepared for a miserable finale as I couldn't help but feel sad for Harvey every time Alice chose not to be honest with him. So I was really glad that things worked out right for Alice and Harvey in the end, even if it wasn't spelled out as easy as ABC and as clearly as 123.
