It was finally time.
To be honest, he wasn’t sure where it would go. If it would go. Enid told him it wasn’t too soon; but part of him still thought it was. He had made dinner for them that night. Tried to hide the fact that the nervousness was killing him. Half of him wanted to just not do it... but he needed to. They had a year and a half of love behind their belts, after years and years of hiding their feelings for one another. He now felt the same as he did in college: scared. In love, but scared. Scared to do what he desperately wanted to do. The memories flooded his brain, terrifying him further.
He hadn’t slept the night before. Just pretended to, so that Sukesh wouldn’t worry for him. At the end of the restless night, he got about an hour of sleep. And he had to power through his shifts on that alone. Enid was still a trainee, so he had to do most of the work. Bags were under his eyes. He acted normal otherwise, throughout the whole dinner. But it was coming to an end, so he needed to make his move. “Sukesh, I...” He says suddenly. “I need to ask you something.” He didn’t want to make the other nervous, but he couldn’t avoid it now.
He stand to his feet. Walks over to his lover, and gets down on one knee. Pulling a silver ring out of his back pocket. “Sukesh Kapoor, will you marry me?”
