On Asgard, a soulmate was the most treasured bond one could form, outside those forged in battle. It is a connection brought upon by a power not fully understood and known by even the Gods, and that mystery made those connections all that more desired, more cherished.

It is a concept that Thor learned of as a child, watching his mother take care of his new baby brother (His name is Loki, Thor, be gentle, was the firm but kind advice she had given him), and upon chance, seeing his father’s name scrawled across her collarbone and immediately demanding answers.

One that she explained, with the simplest words possible.

“Does father have your name as well?” he asked, blue eyes wide and curious.

“He does,” she confirmed, her eyes twinkling.

Thor looked on his own skin, nose wrinkling. “And there shall be a day when I too will have a name?”

“Yes, my dear, there will be,” Frigga said, fondness in her tone and expression evident.

“When?” He wasn’t sure whether he wanted the name immediately, or at all. All he wished to do was play and fight.

“When you are ready.”

Try as he may, there was no other answer he would be able to coax, from her or his father. Only that when the time was right, he shall receive the name of the one who was the other half of his soul.

It was not long after that he first met Sif.

🤗 The Lady Sif figure arrived today (along with Infinity War Natasha) and I couldn’t resist posing it like this—

Because this is the closest I’ll ever get to MCU!ThorSif and pining Thor, probably.

Man, it would’ve been awesome if we saw Sif in Infinity War fighting back to back or saving Thor (like in the beginning of TDW) in Wakanda and being in that Okoye & Natasha & Wanda scene.

On another note, I’m really loving this Sif figure—the face sculpt is awesome and very accurate! Plus, you get Sif’s iconic double bladed sword! (Though I don’t think you can see it, the way I posted it)

Expect fanart within the month, if I have time. Also...what I wouldn’t give for a Marvel Legends Queen Frigga figure with a good face sculpt and her daggers.

Title: tale as old as time Fandom: Thor/MCU Pairing/Characters: Thor/Sif Rating: PG-13 Word Count: 7057 Summary: Beauty and the Beast AU; When her dearest friend is taken captive by the Beast of Asgard, only known by name and feared by those around, Sif ventures to the castle and ends up volunteering to take his place. The west wing of the palace was off limits. That was made clear almost immediately after the terms of her imprisonment were laid out- she may venture anywhere that she pleased, not even restricted to the cell that the one she had offered her life in exchange for had been limited to, but that part was forbidden. It only made her more curious; through her anger at her situation, Sif couldn’t help but wonder about her surroundings and even her captor himself. The Beast, whose menacing demeanor and terrifying appearance had spread fear into the heart of the Asgardians, especially the unfortunate few that had dared to seek him out, was well known. He was indeed very large and hairy, fur the color of gold, stalking around on two legs and possessing a menacing growl, but Sif’s active imagination had somehow imagined him even worse. She did not fear him, despite his mightiest attempts to seem intimidating. She had been hearing stories about him for years, since the moment that he had taken over the palace unexpectedly, slaughtering the royal family without mercy. Sif had never ventured into the palace prior, the one opportunity she had gotten had been called off due the unexpected invasion by this … monster. Sif/thor high school au please!!!

Their friendship was certainly arranged, Sif knows, for this very reason, so that perhaps one day they would grow up and get married and join his father's company and her father's company together; a political move from the beginning. She should hate him for this, she knows that too, she should hate him for being pushed towards her in every turn, should watch him tossing the basketball at the net and despise every move he makes.

But she is unable to hate him for the simplest of reasons -- the plan worked, and she steals the basketball out of his hands and he laughs, and she thinks she loves him.

Loki is in love with Sif.

His reasoning for cutting her hair went beyond pranking and jealousy. He wanted to see if Thor was as fickle as he suspected him to be, if he would still love her without her beauty, because if he didn't, then Loki would be waiting for her with open arms.

He was disappointed, of course. Their love was as strong as ever, and Loki remained alone. He still loves looking at Sif and her black hair, though, knowing that he put it there and that she accepted it enough to not force him to change it back to blonde. 

He also kept a strand of the gold hair, which is tucked in one of his spellbooks to this day.
