stupid training guy was going to stay a couple days this week then i told him 'bruh i'm fine please STOP' so he was ok i'll just stay tomorrow but thankfully he found out someone else is out tomorrow so they want him on day shift so he left early to sleep and i had a couple blissful hours alone. it is done. no more person over my shoulder 🙌

fandoms are still so transparently male-centric. I'm tired of hearing about people's """babygirls""" and the pathetic wet little guys they're obsessed with. have you ever spent a single second thinking about a female character's interiority

you see so many posts like this, and there's nothing wrong with any of them individually, but this is part of what I meant in my tags about the automatic assumption in fandoms that the characters you obsess over, the ones that are most interesting and worth psychoanalysing, are always male. maybe HER guilt complex and crying fits compel me. maybe I want to get overly attached to an amoral and pathetically sad fictional WOMAN

#there's no longer quite so much vitriol in fandoms towards female characters#but instead they're viewed as the cool competent smart emotionally mature ones. the braincell havers and mom friends (tags from @thirddoctor)

She (whoever she is and whatever she's actually like) is reinvented as this very sensible, mature, reasonable character who OF COURSE we all respect and admire and etc etc blah... but as fandom keeps pointing out (see above) those are not the type of character fans generally go for, we prefer the broken hot messes (even if they, too, aren't actually like that orginally). Fandom has at last found a neat way to sidestep any accusations of not liking the women (because OBVIOUSLY we love her! she has the brain cell!) while also making sure they are collectively seen as the character type that - purely coincidentally - don't tend to get all that much fannish attention.

I never know if I can mention my writing to people on dating websites. Like it's a huge part of my time but when to say it's fanfic is a whole can of worms. Eventually I would admit that to a partner so they need to be cool with it but this guy called himself a 'hobby writer' in our first messages and it's like.... do I reveal this now? Idk it just feels like a lot to throw at someone.

I had some major second guessing on Saturday night after reading something that I needed to handle Chrissy's dysmorphia differently in the fic so I went through and started adjusting it then I went to bed, read up more on eating disorders and dysmorphia, and decided my original way was perfectly fine lol. The other way is also a very common way for it to manifest, but I think the way I'm doing it is easier for readers and the fic is already pretty brutal. Glad for gdocs i could roll back the changes easily lol
