I am very much in two minds about casebound vs spiral bound sketchbooks bc casebounds are great for sprawling drawings but hell to photograph/scan because of the fold, whereas spiral bound sketchbooks are always gna be 100000% flat but you can only fill it up one page at a time.......................
"You’re too good for me." // "I just don’t want to hurt you." // "I can’t lose you. I need you." // "I never meant to hurt you.." // "How do I breathe without you?" // "Why are you starring at me like that?" okay okay i'm done but i love them already
"You’re too good for me."
"I just don’t want to hurt you."
"Then don’t." Her words were a whisper and she looked at him earnestly, with true faith that he wouldn’t hurt her. Stood in between his legs, Alice had been patching him up from his fight of the night, and their eternal argument had happened once more, but Alice didn’t want to fight. She wanted to make him see that she trusted him, that he had nothing to fear, because she didn’t. Grateful that they were roughly the same height in that moment, Alice lifted one hand to cradle his cheek and smiled. "You," she started, fiercely passionate about what she wanted to say, "you are so important to me. I trust you, Matthew. I know you won’t hurt me. So please trust yourself."
"I can’t lose you. I need you."
As much as she might wish that they were, things weren’t always easy between herself and Matthew. Even if the basis was how much they cared about each other, they argued, and there were times that Alice wasn’t sure for how much longer she could do it. But this time, when he looked so scared, she had no thoughts for herself, and crossed the room to stand before him. Her hands held his for a moment before tugging him into a tight embrace, pressing her cheek against his chest. “I’m not going anywhere. Do you hear that? I’m staying right here. I’m here for you.”
"I never meant to hurt you.."
For the first time in one of their spats, Alice couldn’t look at him. She couldn’t bring herself to turn her gaze and see Matthew, because she could hear him. She could hear how torn up he was, and knew that if she so much as glanced at him she’d be putty in his hands. Alice couldn’t ever make herself say no to him, or leave when she maybe should have, and this time she needed to try and stay strong. “Never meaning to do something doesn’t take back the fact that you did it.” Her voice was quiet but she was proud of the fact that she didn’t falter.
"How do I breathe without you?"
Friends told Alice that her relationship with Matthew wasn’t healthy. They’d only recently established that it was in fact a relationship, with Alice convincing Matthew that everything was going to be okay, that they could be okay together, and finally admitting how much they meant to each other. It had been evident, but hearing it coming from both sides was a relief. Alice couldn’t remember if her friends had used the word dependent, but even when an alarm rang in her head at his words, she completely melted as she stared at him. “You won’t have to.” She promised, smiling at him. “You won’t ever have to find out. I’m right here, and I won’t ever let you go.”
"Why are you staring at me like that?"
With a grin on her face that was starting to make her cheeks hurt, Alice shrugged. She had indeed been staring at him with that smile for a few minutes as they lounged on his sofa together, her head in his lap, and when he noticed he had questioned it. “Well, you know.” She shrugged again and lifted one arm to trail a finger from his temple, down his cheek and along his jawline before dropping her hand to her lap. “I love you.” Alice hadn’t said it before, and it was almost astounding at how easy it was for her to say it. She wondered if it should have been more of a special occasion, but in her heart she knew the words to be true and so she couldn’t help but say it. “I love you, Matthew Ulrich. And so I’m staring at you. Is that okay?”
