in regards to your tags i think niall WAS happy where he was back in the nh1 era like he was fine with not selling out stadiums, but being in that atmosphere again and performing for that big of a crowd probably triggered the memories and feelings of doing it w the band and reinvigorated that outlook in his head that it's something he'd want to do, but he's fine doing the level he is. if that makes sense

oh i’d agree with that? i absolutely think he was happy were he was and with what he was doing through the nh1 era. it was a very natural sort of growth and allowed him to play some really cool venues that he missed out on in the band years because of how quickly they exploded. plus the outdoor amphitheaters suited his music and really fit the style of show he was going for with that album.

i think the most interesting thing about this particular quote is, like…..it seems like he’s always been very understated in his drive for success with his solo career so far?? always very “i’m just going along, doing my thing. if i reach higher heights, that would be cool, but i’m also fine right here,” where this feels sliiiightly more transparent about the drive and passion he has and about the fact that he fucking WANTS success and WANTS to play to huge crowds, if he could manage it. i don’t think it’s a driving factor of his career - it’s not Success Above All or anything like that where he would sacrifice his artistry or vision for it - but it IS a factor in his mind and something that he’s working towards, you know?
