Forests had always been one of her favorite places to wander. Perhaps it was the way the trees grow together, offering a comfortable silence and a much appreciated shelter from the sun. Perhaps it was the way the wind feel different there, mixing with the fresh scent only forests could provide. Or maybe, it was simply because the woods reminded her of a part of her past. It used to be forests and green fields, rivers and creeks. And so it was not really a wonder that on this particular evening, the winter spirit was once again treading through the leaf-covered ground just for the sake of being there, bare feet stepping lightly on the soil, a soft smile on her lips.
She was not alone. So much for the peace she had had. The feeling flashed through her and she spun around, her staff at the ready. There was no one on the ground. And then the rustling sound was heard, and her head snapped skyward, following the source. Perched on the branches was a being she had never once witnessed in her long existence. Rather in awe of the presence above her, the winter spirit let her guard down, grinning as she raised her voice, "Did it hurt when you fall down from heaven, o divine one?" Followed with a chuckle, "Sorry, I just had to."
