Tips for New Sigma Mains

I know for me, Sigma was easy to figure out and get good at, but I know that many others really struggle. Well, I’m here to fix that, so I made this snazzy list! It’s by no means finished and if you know of anything else that works well for you, go ahead and tell me! -Playing Sigma- • PLEASE retract your shield! It won’t do anything floating 25ft above the point! Your shield is meant to protect you and your team. • If Roadhog hooks you, chances are, he’s going to blast your face with shrapnel once or twice. You can take much less damage by using your Kinetic Grasp when he does this. • Your shield is not ONLY meant to protect your team! It has so many other uses! Use it to make Pharah Rocket Barrage herself in the face, shield your teammates from D.Va’s Self Destruct, block Reinhard’s Earth Shatter, and much more! • Tell your team when your ultimate is charged! • Sigma’s shield can destroy Proximity Mines! Pleas use this wisely, as your shield will take damage and possibly break! • When your shield breaks, it’s always a good idea to use Kinetic Grasp. Especially around Orisa or Bastion. PLEASE be careful when doing this! • S T O P going for the enemy Sigma! You may feel the urge to assert your dominance, but your team needs you more! • Accretion is your friend. It can be used to stop ultimates such as Roadhog, Reaper, Moira, Sigma, etc. Anyone who’s ultimate isn’t instant like D.Va, Orisa, Symmetra, etc. • Get in the fight! I know it’s scary, but you will survive longer than you think, especially if your team knows what they’re doing. Plus, you can’t be of much use cowering away in the back! • Watch out for Sombra. Sneaky bitch. • Work on your aim! Your hyperspheres do lots of damage, as well as splash damage, but they will be a lot more effective if you can get direct hits! Don’t worry about headshots; Overwatch won’t allow you to get them • Work on angles. Sigma’s Hyperspheres bounce off of walls! This mechanic has helped me out many times • Moira is one of your worst enemies. She moves quickly and deals damage fast. You cannot use Kinetic Grasp against her, so it’s best to just stay away from her as much as you can. • Your ultimate is NOT meant to insta kill! It’s meant to be used with someone else’s ultimate! Try pairing up with a Zarya, McCree, D.Va, Moira, etc • Sigma is a big dude, and he doesn’t move very quickly a lot of the time. This can make you an easy target for flankers like Reaper, Junkrat, and even McCree. Remember this. • When getting ready to Ult, make sure characters like Roadhog, Brigitte, McCree, other Sigmas, etc are well distracted, as they can indeed stun you and make you lose your ultimate • Orisa, when golden, is not affected by Gravitic Flux, or Accretion • Pharah is not immune to you! Your hyperspheres can take her down rather quickly! Be wary of cliffsides, though! • It’s always a good idea to use your shield to push the other team back! For some reason, many players see shields as immovable obstacles. Use this to your advantage! • You can absorb McCree’s ultimate with Kinetic Grasp! • Practice, practice, practice! • Listen to the karaoke lines

-Fighting Sigma- • It’s easiest to kill a Sigma with a shield/tank buster such as Reaper or Junkrat. Sigma isn’t the fastest character in the game, and because of this, he is an easy target • If and when you see the enemy Sigma using their Kinetic Grasp (Red funnel with black dot in the middle) DO NOT SHOOT AT HIM! All this does is give him shields! The Kinetic Grasp ability will not do damage to you! • Sigma is very susceptible to characters like Lucio and Roadhog. Unless he’s using his Ult to save himself, you can boop/chain him off of cliffs • Sigma, like many characters, is much easier to kill when hacked. Use this to your advantage. He’s a little useless without his abilities. • Be careful as a Reaper, Roadhog, Moira, etc! Sigma can stun you even when you’re ulting! • Reinhardt, don’t use Earth Shatter in front of any kind of shield. The shield will stop it short! • Sigma can still get you with his ultimate even if you’re under cover! • It’s ok to walk through the shield! Especially as another tanky character like Orisa or Roadhog! • Hammond, beware of the Accretion ability! Sigma can stop you short with it! • Moira is a GREAT Sigma counter! If it’s just Moira against Sigma, chances are, Moira will win! • Sigma has no footsteps. He may be big, but you better be damn sure he can sneak up on you • If the enemy Sigma is ulting, he can still be shot at! Take him out as soon as you can! • If you’re fighting Sigma as Sigma, you can bounce your hyperspheres under the shield! Provided there’s room to in the first place -Playing With a Sigma- • Get. Behind. The shield! It‘s there for a reason! Sigma’s shield can provide fantastic protection, but only if you use it as intended! • Please protect him! He won’t survive very long by himself and he works so much better with his team, much like most tanks! • Keep him healed! Unless he’s going out on vacations across the map. • Make sure he knows your ultimates are ready! His ultimate doesn’t do a whole lot on its own! • Like many tanks, if you stay near Sigma and help out on fighting, he can protect you really well! • Sigma does a TON of damage when he’s damage boosted! He doesn’t fire very rapidly, but his damage output goes up significantly!
