In response to a prompt by Anonymous in the Young Royals Prompt Meme collection.

As it turns out, August and Simon did know each other before Simon [is asked to bring] alcohol for the initiation party. They had hooked up in secret on and off, but it all ended when Simon finally put a stop to it before they went too far, romantically or physically. Both parties have mutually sworn each other to secrecy, and Wilhelm and Sara have no idea. The only problem? August can't stop thinking about Simon. (This is Canon-divergent in my head, but could be made into an AU if writer prefers)

hello i am back with another aughost drabble:

sleep

The dream bleeds away even as Simon's heart keeps pounding. 

“Are you there?" he asks the darkness. 

"I'm here." 

It should probably bother him, Simon thinks. 

August doesn’t sleep. Simon asked once. 

Instead, he keeps watch. He likes how the shadows shift from Simon’s window, he says.

Simon sucks in a deep breath. He could reach for the lamp, disperse the darkness with syrupy warmth. 

But the dream is already less than a memory, and August’s faint form is steady in the moonlight. 

His ghost gives him a lopsided smile.

“I’m here,” he says again. “You can sleep.”

Simon does.

"Is anyone else as bored as I am? ... Ooh, I know! Let's get the Oujia board!" Frederika exclaimed. 

Simon rolled his eyes. Beside him, August's voice was a cool draft. 

"Do you think I should mess with them?"

"You've gotten too comfortable with this," Simon muttered.

"What was that, Simon? You don't approve?" Stella smiled sweetly, and Simon bristled.

"You know what? Let's do it.”

Ten minutes later, Simon and August listened to the girls' shrieks echo down the hallway. 

"What did I tell you?" August glowed with laughter.

Simon grinned despite himself.

"Okay, but that's the last time, seriously.”
