When you think of the classic romances, the same films pop into your head-- timeless love stories to watch over and over. The beauty of the best films is that their stories transcend their characters and their settings. But that doesn’t mean that there isn’t still a longing to see stories that don’t have to be metaphorical in order to represent me. As you know by now, Section II’s namesake is the clause in the Motion Picture Production Code that outlawed lesbians on screen until 1968. We’ve re-purposed our namesake in order to provide a home for all the best lesbian-related films and series. And now we’re re-imagining the classics in order to take a look at what no-Code Hollywood might have looked like.
