I really want Rebecca's dad to crash the dates and we get family therapy sessions and work on how "every guy [she] date is just a stand in for your dad" instead of spending too much time on the love quadrangle. I don't want the show to forgive years of terrible and neglectful parenting, but I really want some kind of better resolution than his last appearance, and to address what they seemed to abandon as a plot line :/
Hey anon, sorry this response is so late!
I totally understand wanting to go deeper, but personally I feel that their relationship did get resolved at the end of season 2. A relationship needs two people to function; if Silas had ever showed any kind of interest in making amends and building a genuine relationship with Rebecca, it might have still left some kind of an open door for a later resolution. But he didn’t - he is shown to be content with a dynamic where he doesn’t make any effort to understand or support his daughter in any aspect of her life, and because that dynamic actively hurts her, the best thing she could do is cut him out.
The only other time they communicate is when Rebecca intercedes on Tucker’s behalf, because Silas still cannot be trusted to take action in his child’s best interests without being bribed. He hasn’t changed, and Rebecca cannot undo the damage he caused in the past, but she can protect herself going forward by minimizing his influence as much as possible. Her abandonment issues have been and might still be explored further in the final two episodes, but as much as I would love to see Silas put on the spot and squirming like a worm on a hook, I very much feel that his role is over.
