Cine: A Kid Like Jake (2018)

Hace mucho que Alex (Claire Danes) y Fred Wheeler (Jim Parsons, que también oficia como productor ejecutivo) notaron que su hijo Jake (Leo James Davis) tenía un comportamiento que los desconcertaba. El pequeño tiene cuatro años, una gran imaginación e inteligencia y un creciente fervor por los cuentos de hadas, en lo cuales, al representarlos, suele asumir el rol de princesa.

No saben si es sólo una fase o deben prepararse para algo permanente, pero les preocupa, y mucho, el modo en que el mundo lo tratará: están en la búsqueda de una escuela para su etapa inicial y temen que esta tendencia acabe siendo un impedimento para ello.

De eso va esta película: de cómo lo padres deben enfrentar una situación impensada que pone en cuestión su relación matrimonial, la familiar y aún trastoca a sus amistades. La dirige Silas Howard (el tema lo toca de cerca, siendo él también transexual), basándose en una pieza teatral homónima de Daniel Pearle, también responsable del guión.

"When I tactfully asked how the mom felt about having the girls say “hey homo’s” and “yeah faggot” she said “Oh, we’re a liberal family, it’s fine!” Not entirely sure the logic there but they were AMAZING kid actors and very sweet homophobes."
