"Southeast Asian survivors have never been silent. ONLY SILENCED.” Dear Yee, my loving and supportive partner, you are the strongest and most inspiring survivor I know. You have shown this through all the times you stood up for yourself and for others who could not speak up. You’ve done great work for the community and you keep fighting for justice even though it is beyond painful and traumatic. It is not easy for survivors to share their experiences, but you do it because you genuinely care. Remember the countless survivors who have reached out to you and told you how your story has inspired them to rise up against injustices. Remember all the youth, especially the young children, who have been motivated by your genuine soul to stand up for what is right. Do not let misguided people silence and police you. Because your story is powerful. You are powerful. Your presence, alone, is truly empowering. There are many more of us who look up to you and who are with you every step of the way. You are loved. You are beautiful, inside and out. You have a powerful voice and nobody can ever take that away from you, no matter how hard they try to silence you. Continue the good fight. Like what you said in your poem, “Never in a million years will you ever face defeat.” I love you with all my heart <3 <3 <3 #silenceisnotconsent (at The Student Recruitment & Retention Center)
