Beginning Allegiances (TW: Descriptions of animal death)

Silentstar is the current leader of SilentClan. She was given her nine lives after she left CottonClan, a clan that is bloodthirsty and chaotic. At the time of leaving, Whispershade was only a kit, and what pushed her to leave was when her mate at the time, Fernshadow, died during a border patrol gone wrong. Silentstar decided to settle under a bridge in the plains, a decent distance away from CottonClan. Whispershade was made deputy upon reaching 12 moons and becoming a warrior. For a long time, Silentstar relied on Whispershade for signs from StarClan because Whispershade has the ghost sight trait. Whispershade doesn't mind because it means she gets to daydream all she wants. Silentstar is bold, a good speaker, and a good hunter. Whispershade is thoughtful and has ghost sight.

Brightwing[I just realized I spelled her name wrong in the drawing fml] was born a rogue. She didn't really care for her former rogue group and left it pretty early in life. She met a tom named Snowball on her journeys and was captivated by his white pelt. She stayed with him for a long time before she got pregnant, which caused Snowball to leave her. Afterwards, she found Silentstar and Whispershade, Whisperpaw at the time, and decided to join in on whatever they were planning as a healer. Silentstar did not like Brightwing at first. When Brightwing asked for a warrior name and was given the prefix Bright, she thought it was neat. She later found out that Silentstar was actually insulting her; the leader does not like bright colors. Still, Brightwing managed to prove her worth to Silentstar, and now they get along pretty well. Redpaw was named Redkit by Brightwing when he was born. All he's ever known is the clan, and he latched onto Silentstar quickly, much to Silentstar's annoyance. Eventually, Redkit managed to grow on Silentstar, and Silentstar decided to take him in as her own apprentice. Brightwing is compassionate, a trusted advisor, and a good storyteller Redpaw is charismatic and confident with words

Hatchsmoke was also a former rogue, similar to Brightwing. He's a lot taller than the average cat, and he knows it. He uses his height to intimidate others despite his more lanky physique. As a rogue, Hatchsmoke only ever cared for spilling blood, up until he met a beautiful she-cat named Wisteria. He dropped everything for her and left his rogue group for her, knowing there might be consequences. One day, after Hatchsmoke had returned from a hunting trip, he saw the aftermath of his former rogue group's wrath bestowed upon Wisteria. She was dead, having a single newborn kitten that looked exactly like her still clinging to her cooling body. Hatchsmoke took the newborn kitten with him and began to search for a place to settle, vowing to kill his former rogue group. He ended up coming across SilentClan during its earlier formation and joined as a mediator with his kitten, which was now named Wisteriakit after his mother. Wisteriakit doesn't remember his mom or what happened, but Hatchsmoke talks about her a lot, and Wisteriakit likes hearing the stories Hatchsmoke has. Wisteriakit is a tom kit, but he's often mistaken for a she-kit because of his long fur and feminine name. It annoys Wisteriakit when others mistake him for a she-kit.

Hatchsmoke is vengeful, a skilled mediator, and a learner of lore. Wisteriakit is polite and quick to make peace.

Okay, so I realize that Mousepaw and Fleetkit are only one moon apart, but... warrior cat logic, let's just pretend Fleetkit is a bit taller and maybe Mousepaw was birthed by a surrogate... Anyway, Hollowpath was a former loner with a mate named Sparrow. His entire life, he's been anxious and insecure, and he's always felt like a subpar dad. That only got worse when Sparrow died while giving birth to Fleetkit. Mousepaw was traumatized by the sight. Hollowpath buried the body, said his last goodbyes with his kits by his side, before leaving to find a new place. Of course, that's when Hollowpath came across SilentClan. Hollowpath asked to join with his kits so they could be protected, and Silentstar allowed them to stay. Because of Hollowpath's age, he was the first Head Warrior of SilentClan. Hollowpath is insecure, a good swimmer, and a good mediator Mousepaw is loyal, interested in clan history, and oddly observant Fleetkit is impulsive and a mossball hunter.

Doveclaw was a kittypet before joining SilentClan. He escaped from his household because he overheard his two-legs talking about getting him spayed. He was rather arrogant when he asked to join SilentClan, but he was allowed in anyway. Doveclaw relies on ambushing and using lighter colored rocks to blend in. Doveclaw is righteous and a good hunter

Other Notes

I realize that a lot of the cats have the same or similar backstories, and that's likely because I was half asleep when I thought them up lol. I'm not really willing to change them because I've already grown sort of attached to these characters, but I'll try to do better when coming up with backstories in the future. I was inspired by clangenfun, specifically the eye designs lol. I plan to do a lot of art for each moon and kind of go at my own pace :P

Moon 0 3/4

Brightwing padded through a dirt path, her ginger fur dampened slightly by the light drizzle weeping from the clouds. It’s a damp day to find thyme; however, Brightwing found herself enjoying the weather despite the way it dulled the colors around her, making them look dreary.

The drizzle hid the scents, and Brightwing nearly walked straight past the very thyme she had set out to collect. She stopped when she caught a glimpse of the plant, and settled down to harvest it. As she began to pad back to camp, she caught a glimpse of the familiar yellow color of goldenrod. She collected it, putting what she couldn’t carry with just her jaws into the saddlebag she’d brought along, satisfied with her herb hunt.

Moon 0 2/4

Silentstar brings Redpaw out to a sandy clearing, instructing Redpaw to copy her movements. She unsheathed her claws and crouched, before pouncing and landing on an empty patch of sand, using her claws and tail to keep her balance and prevent herself from falling over.

Redpaw tried to copy the move, only to end up tumbling onto his side, causing Silentstar to sigh in frustration and show him again. Redpaw tried again, and once again tumbled onto his side, not understanding that his tail would likely be a vital instrument for his balance.

This went on for hours until Silentstar, irritated and annoyed, practically stomped back to camp with Redpaw following behind her in confusion, asking why they were stopping training early.

Notes

Lowk drawing sand is really difficult </3 It's probably the reason why I put this on hold for a bit, but I got it out now muahahah Updates should be weekly at the latest, but I'm kinda inconsistent, so don't hold me to that I plan to draw out A LOT during these moons, so Moon 0 is likely gonna have the least amount of art; Moon 1 is when it'll start getting a little crazy with the illustrated pieces, so keep an eye out for that. Most of these pieces take me around 30 mins - 1 hour because I don't fully render them (even though I really want to for this one) I'm also not the best writer, so I'll be trying out some different things with the writing. < prev | start | next >

Moon 0 Part 1/4

First training patrol ya. With Hollowpath and Mousepaw

Hollowpath decided to hold a training session for Mousepaw. He left SilentClan camp with Mousepaw by his side, taking his daughter to an area of territory with longer grass. This would be Mousepaw’s first time trying to camouflage, and Hollowpath figured they should start with something easy. “Keep your body low to the ground,” Hollowpath instructed quietly, his tail flicking towards the long grass. “Your brown fur will make you harder to detect against the dirt… Not that your fur looks like dirt, but…”

Mousepaw listened to Hollowpath as he tried to overexplain how her fur doesn’t look like dirt. After Hollowpath was done speaking, Mousepaw crouched low and began to tread through the longer grass before stopping at an open patch. “Exactly like that,” Hollowpath nodded approvingly. His black and white fur was a lot more stark against the green grass. “You’re doing a lot better than I did at your age.” Mousepaw beamed at her father's praise, hopping to her feet. "Okay!
