Prompt #2:

The Bargain

“Fear... loss... hate.” A massive blade of darkness cut down another Ishgardian. These foes sought to deny him a place of acceptance and belonging... a home. “This is your gift to me... and the power which drives me.”

“Please!!” The enemy begged. “I’ll do anything, just please don’t take my life!”

“Your bargain means nothing to me, for what I desire is your life.” Silianaux Lothaire, shrouded in darkness, cut the knight down.

Silianaux Lothaire finally arrived. “Enough!!!”

Other Ishgardians watch, baffled but yet encouraged by the Warrior of Light’s presence.

Silian stared into the eyes of his own face. He should be shocked... but he’s ashamed that he isn’t. The man before him is none other than his darkness made manifest. All of the sadness and suffering he endured as an Ishgardian heretic who failed to slay a dragon in the past was now empowered several fold as the twice-betrayed Warrior of Light. The Warrior of Light who was accused of murdering the Sultana, and the Warrior of Light who now was painted as a foe standing in the way of Ishgardian justice. They saw him as a villain, so a villain he became.

“Serve… Save… Slave… Slay…”  Everything he was deteriorated to little other than violence within and without.

Black blades cross with loud crashing sounds as snow and dark tendrils are swept into the air in a bloody battle.

The people of Whitebrim Front did not stand idly by as Silian believed they would. They stepped in and fought alongside him to take down his darkness. It was a fierce battle of brute strength and heart. Silian was nearly defeated as the words of his darkside tore into him, reminding him of the terrible person that he truly is. 

“You will try to be a hero, as you always do… but you will fail... as you always do.” His long sword crashed against his other’s.

“No! You’re… wrong!” Silian pressed back, but his darkside was soon to overwhelm him.

“Defeat him, Silianaux! We know you! You’re the Warrior of Light! Greater than a hundred of our men!” Came a voice in the group of Ishgardian people. It could have been anyone, and it would still fill him with strength. Other words if praise rose, reminding him of his past deeds, that he did become a hero, then one final voice rose:

“Silianaux Lothaire! I’ve never believed you were a heretic, I always knew you were a hero!” It was enough to finally empower the strength within him to overcome and defeat his darkness, reclaiming it into his heart.

After all was said and done, Lord Drillemont commanded the knights and the people of Whitebrim Front to never speak of what was seen. What comfort Lord Drillemont’s command gave was overshadowed by Silian’s thoughts racing on in his mind. 

He may have defeated his darkness, but it would always be with him, reminding him of his misdeeds, and now reminding him of when he turned his blade against Ishgard. What has he done? Did he deserve to be called an Ishgardian anymore? Would he ever be accepted again? He left Coerthas and returned to the Lavender Beds. His silence weighed heavy in the presence of his Free Company friends.

“I want to know what makes you happy.” :3

“What makes me happy?” Many images flooded through his mind just then, bringing a smile to his face. Just then, they all vanished as Silian appeared to realize something. “Why do you want to know?” Distrust replaced the happiness he felt. “Are you going to use it against me? Are you going to suggest I do something forbidden?” Like .... kiss Rayana???? How could he dare?!?

“No one simply asks such a question without an ulterior motive.” He was used to being asked far more mundane questions like ‘What did you do today?’ Or ‘Why are you on the rooftop again?’ He was comfortable up high, OKAY?!?

“I won’t answer you, I don’t know who you are.” He turned his nose up and puffed his fluffy coat-adorned chest out.
