It had taken far too long for Remus to agree to go out and see a local muggle band Sirius assured him were going to make it big soon. There was a lot going on at the McKinnon place, he knew, but that didn’t mean Remus had to keep himself constantly focused on what that was. Sirius was of the opinion that all his friends had forgotten how to breathe with everything going on. There was finally something big coming, and Sirius saw no reason not to let loose a little before they got there.
He was in the kitchen finishing his dishes from lunch when he heard the floo. Instantly his hand went to his wand, and he called out, “Remus?” He didn’t relax until he heard the response, but Sirius gladly wandered into the other room. “It’s about time! The gig starts in twenty minutes, and I was hoping we’d have time to get a little tipsy before it starts. That’s okay. We can figure it out during.”
For a split second, Sirius hesitated. It had been ages since they’d really seen each other like this, and he wasn’t sure if Remus would be comfortable. Plus, there was that nagging concern that seeing Remus face-to-face instantly pushed away. This was one of his best friends. Sirius refused to let anything get in the way. So, without any further fanfare, he flopped an arm around Remus’ shoulders and led him straight for the door, not caring about the dishes still sitting in the sink.
“I’m telling you they’re going to be great,” he promised as they left Sirius’ building. “Just a couple blocks. It’s at that place when went to when I first moved in?” That felt like ages ago, even though it had been just a couple years. Every month felt like a decade, though, while they all waited for things to change. Sirius still wasn’t sure if they were changing them.
