so i have this silverdevil fic in the works where, at some point, buck borrows some of pollys clothes. theyre around the same height, bucks old clothes are in a sorry state, and polly has clothes to spare. this is a fun opportunity for contrast!
polly is well-off, fashionable, and plus sized. everything in his wardrobe is calibrated to his taste and what looks best on his build and with his skin and hair colors. hes also quite vain, so these clothes are also designed to accentuate certain features and his status. when wearing his clothes, everything is crisp, neat and purposeful. his collars are starched, his neckwear a tasteful accent in both shape and color, everything is tailored to levels so precise its honestly a bit ridiculous
buck, meanwhile, comes from scarcity, has little to no sense of style beyond practicality, and is rail thin. the clothes that he had on him were old, ill-fitting, and did little more than cover his body. the clothes polly lends him are LEAGUES nicer than literally everything hes ever owned. but while they are incredibly well made and fancy clothes, they look BAD on buck because they do not fit him at all. hes swamped in the shirts, the waistcoats look frumpy and tacky, and don't even mention the trousers. he feels uncomfortable in them, not bc of the material or anything but bc he feels out of place in them. and also his repressed ass is gonna feel some type of way about wearing another mans clothes
of course, hes also going to feel some OTHER type of way about polly insisting on tailoring those loaner (or, i guess gifted) clothes so that they actually fit properly and feel comfortable. also maybe toning down the florals and the jewel tones. you wouldnt want to wash yourself out, clothes are meant to be compliments! this of course unifies buck with his surroundings, and unifies him visually more with polly, which im sure means nothing
