Coffee bee hawk moth with silver gilt wings. What an absolute pleasure this little moth was to work on. Her wings are so incredibly thin and clear that they show the silver up like glass. • Very few insects have wings that are both thin enough and truly clear enough to give the mirror shine. Most are too thick or tinted and they lend themselves much more to gold leaf, because of the honey-like warmth they give. But the wings on this hawkmoth were perfect, and although gilding with wings that thin is always challenging they have come out exceptionally shiny and I love her.
