I don't understand why its controversial that they've copied the car? Like could you explain cos to me that would surely just be common sense copying the fastest car? Unless it's like blatantly stated that you're not allowed to do it?

because the other teams are pissed that they didn’t also copy merc, that’s the only reason i can imagine they’re mad. it’s not illegal, it’s perfectly fair; unless they literally stole merc’s blueprints a la renault stealing mclaren’s in 2007 (which, as far as we know, they haven’t) then they haven’t broken any rules. also, as my dad said, williams in 1980 copied the lotus 79 and then proceeded to win the title. so.

also, if the rumours are true and it’s steiner complaining, more fool him because he stole last year’s ferrari so...insert spiderman pointing meme here ;)
