I get that y’all artists and illustrators want to draw things that are personally appealing to you but it’s certainly something when most artists choose to stylize their work in a way where everyone is clear-skinned, skinny, hairless, and white. Like somehow that their art is stylized lets them avoid any criticism bc “oh that’s just their style” like a style isn’t something you actively work on and curate as an artist? It’s just frustrating and frankly boring when so many illustrators work just looks like different styles of barbie-levels of beauty standards, because even if it’s technically well done it still shows a lack of interest in even beginning to explore the interesting and beautiful range of people that exist and deserve to be drawn and romanticized too!

2016 Cosplay Year in Review

This year I made 8 new cosplays, and updated Alexandrite! 

My main goal for this year was to step up my craftsmanship game, which I think I achieved! I made two petticoats (my only goal for 2016), made my first corset, and started learning embroidery and armor making. I entered my second cosplay contest ever, and got an honorable mention. I continued to build friendships in the cosplay community and make some new ones too! I think I improved my bodypainting and makeup skills too. Thank you guys for your continual support in this past year! My main goals for 2017 are further improving my makeup skills, keep working on more prop and armor builds, and continue to enter craftsmanship competions. Here’s to an even better 2017!

Making bubblegum progress. Not very interesting stuff, but it needs to get done. But I have like 10 yards of lace coming in the mail, so there’s that!
