The small joke was not enough to make her laugh but it was enough to ease her tension. Slowly, she let out a deep breath and ran her hand through her hair. “It is no one in particular. Just some members of the court. Thought they do not say it to my face, I know they look down at me. I’m am not the Lady I was bred to be. And most days it is easy to ignore but others…” Sif sighed. “I’m letting my emotions rule me to much.”
Algrim gave her a sympathetic look that seemed to convey a profound understanding of her plight. “I daresay it is not so much looking down at you, as disapproving of the path you have cut for yourself in the domain of men. If you ask me, Lady Sif, you are someone to look up to - a role model for young females who aspire to follow in your footsteps, and one of the most competent warriors the realm has ever seen. Men, they feel... intimidated by your prowess.” He laughed softly and flashed her a wry smile. “Alas, the patriarchal ego bruises so easily.”
