If a shorthaired (Ll) silver ticked tabby tom (who carries spotted tabby) with 50% white mated with a longhaired (ll) ruddy ticked tabby molly with 20% white, what type of kits could they produce? Both cats carry dilute.
They can produce both shorthaired and longhaired kits (each kit has a 50/50 chance, really). Each kit has a 50% chance of being a silver ticked tabby like their father and a 50% chance of being a ruddy ticked tabby like their mother. Each kit will have about a 25% chance of being dilute, which would make them a blue ticked tabby instead of ruddy or a blue silver ticked tabby instead of silver. About half the kits will have some degree of white spotting but less than 50%, and depending on the tom’s genetics, either the remaining half will all have 50% or more white spotting, or 25% of the kits will and 25% will have none at all.
