Random asks || Accepting "I had a thought--more of a whim, really.. The next time we're both away for a while, maybe we dabble. In celibacy.

The words made Pietro stop mid-bite. He had run to her favorite Deli in New York to bring them back lunch. How she asked it was so strange, but she clearly avoided asking what she was thinking. Tess wanted to make it seem more aligned with their 'casual' relationship. Or as the kids would call it, a 'situationship'.

But she wasn't asking for it to be casual. She wanted each other to be the other's only partner. Which was anything but casual. She had to see that, right? If that was the case and she was feeling something more for him, she might have been just as scared about as he was. He didn't know her past or if she had her own heart torn out before, but she was the one who brought it up. She was the first one who broke. That was going to be a bragging point from here on.

"So you want a relationship? A monogamous relationship?" He would make her stare at the situation and accept what was happening and what she was asking. "Because that is what you are asking me. Right now. You are the one asking about it first as well."

Name: Mara McKay (They both take Tess's name)

Gender: Female

General Appearance: Dark skin from her parents with sharp facial features. She's surprisingly on the shorter side compared to the rest of her family. Her hair is as white as Pietros, only with two obnoxious dark strands that are hard to control and sweep up like her father's. She was born with brown eyes like her brother, but her mutation caused them to become metallic silver, light reflecting as such. Her body has more curves and softness than her parents, but still relatively strong and athletic.

Personality: Calm and reserved. Her older brother is the wild child of the family, and she is his foil. But she is the one who is quicker to anger and take real action, sometimes coming up with a plan weeks or months in the making to get back at someone. She is also very studious, inheriting her father's quick mind to aid in her studies.

Special Talents:/Mutation: Organic metal production and manipulation. She can turn parts of her bones, skin, and even eyes into a very strong organic metal and control it like her grandfather. Non-organic metals do not react unless she adds something of herself, usually blood. The process of changing her body like this is incredibly painful, but she does heal from these effects quickly, a trait from her mother when she transforms. She knows how to fight with her powers, having training in marksmanship and close combat/bladed weaponry.

Who they like better: Tess when she's levelheaded and Pietro when she wants to retaliate with something.

Who they take after more: Neither. She takes more after her grandfather Erik more than anyone.

Personal Headcanon: Her powers developed early in life like her brother's, only she was able to learn and adapt quicker. It did end up a very bloody and traumatic experience, but Tess was able to help her along the way.

The sound of a body shifting on the top bunk. (They're stuck sharing a space tonight, and both complained constantly about the fact. Visiting the mainland sucks.) A thumb of a bored foot against the mattress.

"Hey, Mara. Do you think pigeons have feelings?"

Couldn't her older brother just go for a run or sleep outside? Sharing a room would be bad enough, but bunk beds were torture. And while she was all for torture in some instances, this was not one of them.

She could answer him plainly with a 'yes'. Most creatures in the world with a brain had feelings. That was how they mated, how they took care of their young, how they knew fear, how to avoid predators, and how to stay alive. It was the only way that carrying pigeons worked.

"Go catch one, and we can see just how much it can feel. I'm sure we can find out real quick if it can feel fear as we start breaking bones." She was joking to shut him up. A lot of her threats like that were just said in jest. To get a rise out of someone.

"Woolf?" Dislike gleams in their nondescript eyes. "Have fun, dude. She plays hard to get with everyone. She's a ball crusher." Yeah, it's clear someone is shit stirring. Even if they stay at arm's length from Pietro, they look around, then lean in just a bit. Then, they stage whisper into a cupped hand: "Yanno, she's one of those mutants with 'issues.' My man Pierrot heard from Buzzsaw, who heard it from a guy he knows that she bashed some other guy's head in with a hammer when she was still a kid." Then, the mouth exaggeratedly: 'issues.'

Pietro laughed in their face. Loudly. Maybe a little dramatically. Were they really trying to tell him of all people to be careful of Tess and her so-called issues?

He could have let it go and just walked away, still laughing with each step. He was struggling to get any words out with how he was laughing now. He would need a few more moments to get it out of his system.

Finally, he stopped, and a finger moved to wipe the tears from his eyes. "You know I needed that. Been a long time since I laughed like that." He really wondered if the voice was just stupid or oblivious to who they were talking to.

"Her issues are so much less than mine." Oh, and there were so many to list. His own sister referred to him as a sociopath. And that was by the sister who liked him most of the time. "You are barking up the wrong tree trying to tell me something is wrong with her. I don't care about her issues. I might even like them. Did that cross your mind?" Why else would he spend so much time around her with their clothes on? "Oh and you tell her, I will find you and I will take my time breaking your bones."
