She caught the smell before she located the source. Something like sulfur, so faint that she knew no one else would notice. In a club like this with so many sights and smells, the peculiarity is what made the scent stand out. It wasn't normal. Then, she locked eyes with its source. A middle aged man with a glass of wine. He raised it in her direction and then went about his business. Though he blended through the crowds, she could always sense his direction by the sulfur alone.

On his exit, he acknowledged her with his pointed words. Laura looked up at him, arms crossed. "You smell like hell," she said bluntly, her nose twitching.

     “I almost had a patient die on me yesterday and do you know what he said to me when I walked in for rounds this morning? He said: round two, Foxie, let’s not almost kill me this time.” She chuckled in remembrance at how spirited the old man had been. It was a pleasure to have him as a patient still. “How’s your day been going?”

when or if I started shipping it. We started with a shippy thread. But I think through headcannons and talking OOC we’ve developed it and it’s just this beautiful thing that I will love forever. 

my thoughts: El is an actual ray of sunshine and Ric adores her so much and the happy life they could have together. Like, there’s so much heartache. But there’s so much potential for domesticity and the happy family he’s always dreamed of.

What makes me happy about them: their little family. Morning and Oliver laying out in the sunshine in the backyard looking at the shapes the clouds make.

What makes me sad about them: That they are dumblings and she left, but he let her go. 

things done in their relationship that annoys me: How much he’s insistent that she can’t handle the truth. Ric is an idiot. 

things I look for in a plot: Her transformation. God that’s going to be intense and sad and terrible. And he’s going to be afraid that she just signed up for eternity and maybe she’s not ready for it.

Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: She’s an OC and I don’t have to answer this question. Though maybe Z and Damon if I had to choose someone for them.

My happily ever after for them: The exact scene I described that makes me happy for them. That is end game. That is life in the middle of all the death.

who is the big spoon/little spoon: He is the big spoon. And he loves it.

what is their favorite non-sexual activity: Reading together or grading papers together.

“Okay, but don’t take too long, alright? But, I was thinking we check out the new cafe on Fifth. I hear the competition is pretty high, so, I gotta scope it for myself.” A mischievous smile rested on her lips, but she was obviously joking since she broke into a laugh. Continuing to spin in his chair, it seemed like she was speaking to five, blurry Parrishes. “Also better hurry before I get sick because this is a lot of fun. How do you work with a chair like this?”

“I don’t know, to be honest.”

Parrish laughed and stopped the chair mid-spin by placing his hands on the armrests. He wasn’t expecting to be nose-to-nose with her, though. The man stared at her for a few moments before pulling away, pink-faced.

“Alright, I, ah, I’ll get to that right away.”

1: Eloise and Alaric argued for a week over who they were going to have be Oliver’s god parents. He wanted Bonnie or Jeremy because they were human and their kid deserved a chance at a normal life. Eloise argued for Elena and Damon because of how close they were to Ric and the fact that he had helped raise Elena in her later years. They finally settled on everybody. They say it takes a village, after all.

2: After she returned, El and Ric started holding weekly game nights. It didn’t matter if the world was falling down around them, game night was something which their friends could not break. El and Ric are running champs at charades. 

3: As much as she likes how excited Ric gets over artifacts, El gets frustrated with how many of them he keeps lying around the house. She’s stubbed her toe more than once on something from 1800s Malaysia.

4: Each week, they pick a different show to binge watch. One week it might be FRIENDS, another it might be LOST (where they laugh about how much that Boone character looks like Damon), or they watch Silicone Valley or VEEP. They take turns each week choosing.
