Canaria Cafe, Brindleton (4:45pm)
Indirah: Hey, sorry for being late. I had my taekwondo practice today.
Justin: Yeah. Sure. Whatever.
Indirah: What’s with that tone?
Justin: What tone?
Indirah: That tone you’re using right now. Are you mad at me?
Justin: What are you talking about? I don’t have a tone.
Indirah: I know you, Justin. Don’t treat me like I’m stupid.
Justin: Stop being overdramatic. I’m talking like I usually do. You’re just overthinking it.
Indirah:...
Justin: Can we talk about something else? I’m not in the mood to argue with you again.
Indirah: I’m not trying to argue with you.
Justin: Well, you’re accusing me of something I didn’t do. You’re baiting for an argument.
Indirah: But I'm not—
Justin: Just drop it. This is not the time.
Indirah:...fine.
Justin: *sighs* Look, if you really have a problem with me, we can talk about it. But not now. We barely get enough time to spend together. Now can we please talk about something else?
Indirah:...
Justin: How’s your training going?
Indirah: It was fine.
Justin: Are you ready for the tournament?
Indirah: I guess.
Justin: Dira, please. I’m trying over here.
Indirah: No, you’re not trying hard enough. I keep on trying to talk to you about us, but you keep avoiding me.
Justin: You’re being ridiculous.
Indirah: I’m the one being ridiculous? Oh god, I can’t believe you.
Justin: Hey, where are you going? Dira!
Indirah: Don’t follow me.
Justin: Dira, wait—
Indirah: Leave me alone.
Justin: Come on, we can talk about this.
Indirah: Oh now you want to talk? Huh? I thought you said I was being ridiculous earlier?
Justin: That’s not what I meant.
Indirah: Then what? Why do you keep on avoiding me when I want to talk about our problems?
Justin: What problems are you talking about?
Indirah: You really don’t see it? Justin, you’ve been an ass to me for months and I have no idea what I’ve done for you to treat me this way.
Justin:...
Indirah: Well? Do you have anything to say about that?
Justin: Okay, maybe I’ve done some things.
Indirah: Maybe? You’ve definitely done a lot of things.
Justin: Stop exaggerating things.
Indirah: I’m not exaggerating. You’ve been treating me coldly, you yelled at me the other day in front of your friends, you even said I was the reason why your friends made fun of you.
Justin: Because that’s the truth. You are the reason why they made fun of me.
Indirah: How am I at fault for that?
Justin: You’re always acting like you’re perfect. Always doing this and that. What are you trying to prove here? That you’re better than everyone? Even me?
Indirah: I don’t get it.
Justin: *scoffs* Of course you wouldn’t understand what I’m saying. You’ve had everything in your life handed to you, little Miss Perfect.
Indirah: How could you say that? I had to work just as hard to get what I want!
Justin: Oh my god, you’re hopeless. I never should’ve—
Indirah: Should’ve what?
Justin: Dated you.
Indirah:...
Justin:...
Indirah: *scoffs* So this is it, huh?
Justin: No, listen, I didn’t intend for it to come out that way. It’s just that you...you pushed me—

Indirah: Hey Caleb, is Justin in class?
Caleb: He left with Michael and Tristan earlier.
Indirah: Oh? Do you know where he went?
Caleb: I think he went to get a drink from the vending machine.
Indirah: I see...Thanks, Caleb.
Michael: Hey, aren’t you going to hang out with Dira today?
Tristan: Yeah. Don’t you guys usually spend recess together?
Justin: I don’t feel like it.
Michael: What? You’re tired of her already? What a shame.
Justin: What are you talking about.
Michael: It’s a shame, y’know. If you break up with her, you can’t be a royal.
Tristan: Right? But I guess that’s okay with you. I don’t think you’d like having to live in her world.
Michael: *laughs* Yeah, imagine him being her pretty little hubby and waving to the crowds.
Justin: Stop it.
Michael: What? Isn’t it true? Her position is higher than everyone in this school. If you marry her in the future, you’ll have to walk behind her for the rest of your life.
Justin:...
Tristan: I mean, I’m pretty sure he’s had practice already. Because even now, he’s still behind her.
Indirah: Excuse me? What did you just say?
Tristan: O-oh! Dira I...I didn’t see you there.
Indirah: What did you just say to Justin? He’s going to walk behind me? My dad has never walked behind my mum and he’s the Queen’s consort! How dare you say my partner won’t be my equal?
Michael: Hey, don’t get mad. We’re just stating the truth.
Justin: Stay out of this, Dira.
Indirah: No! They’re making fun of you and you’re expecting me to not say anything?
Tristan: We’re just teasing him. Don’t take it seriously.
Indirah: That doesn’t sound like teasing, assholes. I want you to apologize to him, now.
Justin: I said stay out of this. I’m not repeating myself.
Indirah: And I said no. I won’t let them make fun of you like this.
Justin: God! Why do you have to do this? I’m asking for one simple thing. I just need you to shut up and let me handle this myself. Why do you have to be so nosy?!
Justin: You want to know why they make fun of me? It’s because of what you’re doing now. This is why they make fun of me.
Indirah:...
Tristan: Chill, dude. You don’t have to yell at her like that. We’re sorry, okay?
Justin:...
Indirah: Justin...
Michael:...hey, Dira. We’re sorry for what happened. We went too far with our teasing.
Tristan: Yeah. We didn’t expect him to take it to heart.

Justin: You missed a lot of things while you were traveling. Did you know Mike got a new girlfriend now?
Indirah: He did? Wasn’t he with Roxanne? Who is he with now?
Justin: I don’t remember her name. I think she's a Junior from the Music department.
Indirah: *chuckles* He always goes for the girls there.
Justin: He has a type, I guess.
Indirah: So what about you? How were you doing while I was gone?
Justin: I’m doing okay. I auditioned for the Peter Pan play.
Indirah: How did it go?
Justin: I wasn’t casted.
Indirah: O-oh...I’m so sorry. Maybe you’ll get another role next time?
Justin: I’m not counting on it.
Indirah: Hey, don’t say that. You’re talented. I’m sure you’ll get a role in the next play. Don’t give up.
Justin: *sighs* Yeah, sure.
???: Hi, excuse me. I don’t want to bother you but...you’re Princess Indirah, right?
Indirah: Yes, I am. Can I help you?
Naufal: I’m Naufal and this is Layla. We’re part of Malura’s transfer student program and we’re big fans of yours!
Layla: Yeah. We’ve read what you’ve done for the youth in your country and you remind us of Princess Zahirah when she was young.
Indirah: Really?
Naufal: Mhm. And we really admire what you’ve done. Seriously, you have your own foundation set up before you even graduate high school. That’s so cool!
Indirah: Thank you for saying that.
Naufal: Can we get a picture with you? If you don’t mind, of course.
Indirah: *smiles* I’d be happy to. Come on, let’s take the picture outside. The lighting is better there.
Layla: Uh...sorry, can you take a picture of us?
Justin:...sure.
Justin: One, two, three!
Naufal: Thank you! And thank you, your royal highness. I hope you’ll keep on doing good things for your people.
Indirah: I’ll try my best. I hope you’ll have a great stay while you’re here.
Layla: We will!
Indirah: They’re so sweet, aren’t they?
Justin:...yeah.
Indirah: Is everything okay?
Justin: I’m fine. I need to go. I’ll see you later, Dira.
Alfie: Nice to meet you too. *turns to Indirah* Why are you home late, Dira?
Justin: It’s my fault, we went to see a movie and had dinner afterwards and lost track of time.
Alfie: Is that so? The both of you must’ve had a great time out today, huh?
Justin:...
Alfie: It’s getting late, Justin. Maybe you should go home before your parents worry about you.
Justin: Yes, of course. Dira, I’ll see you after the break, alright?
Indirah: Alright. Drive safe.
Justin: I will. Goodnight, your highnesses.
Indirah: I see your face, Alfie.
Alfie: What?
Indirah: Come on, spit it out. I know you have something to say about him.
Alfie: I don’t trust him. I’m sorry, Dira. He’s giving me weird vibes.
Indirah: You’re overreacting. You always do. Justin is a nice guy.
Alfie: For your sake, I hope he is. Now, get inside and go to bed. You’re lucky mum and dad aren’t home. Or else they would’ve grounded you for coming home late.
Indirah: What about you? Where are you going?
Alfie: I’m going to see Carlos. He wants to catch up before he leaves for Monaca next week.
Indirah: Oh, so you can stay out late, but I can’t?
Alfie: I’m an adult, Dira. I won’t be long. Now, go.
Indirah: Fine!
Indirah: *grumbles* Alfie you butt. This is not fair!

Michael: Dira ditched you again? Where’d she go this time?
Justin: She had a meeting with the school council.
Michael: That sucks. I rarely see you guys hang out at school anymore. She ditched you last week too, right?
Justin: Mhm. She’s busy with all of her stuff and trying to “set a good example for the students”.
Tristan: She’s the student president now, of course she wants to set a good example for the others.
Justin: *scoffs* What’s so good about being the student president anyways? You’re just going to make yourself more stressed with loads of extra work. I don’t understand why she wants to be the president so badly.
Tristan: You know how she is. She wants to do everything she can.
Michael: Yeah. Didn’t you tell me she invited you to the taekwondo thingy the other day?
Tristan: *laughs* She’s still in the team? Damn, I thought she’d outgrow her tomboy phase, but I guess not.
Michael: Remember the last competition she participated in? She wrecked that dude from St. Agnes! If you piss her off, she might do that to you too!
Tristan: *snickers* She can do anything, and you’re just...you.
Justin: Not funny, guys.
Michael: *laughs* What? It’s true! She’s good at everything and she’s a Princess too.
Tristan: Right? Makes me wonder why she’d go for you. She’s out of your league, dude.
Indirah: Hey guys, am I interrupting something?
Michael: Dira! Hey! What’s up? You’re here for Justin?
Indirah: Yeap. I wanted to ask him if he wants to get lunch with me.
Tristan: *snorts* Your girl is bold, Justin. She’s the one who came looking for you. At this point, she might as well be the man in your relationship.
