Bio! Writing this made me realise i made him go through sm this poor kid
Raised by parents consumed by addiction, Aria and his two older siblings had to fend for themselves, growing up under very poor circumstances. He keeps minimal contact with his siblings in present day.
Aria was put into a foster system at age 10, following the death of his parents. After being placed into his first foster home, he met Mable and Nathan at school. The trio quickly became inseparable.
Mable is Aria's closest friend, the one person he confides in. Nathan was his first in a lot of aspects; his first love, first kiss and first relationship. Before this blooming love got the chance to develop any further, Nathan passed away in a motorcycle accident. This marked the end of the few years of genuine happiness in Aria's life.
He bounced between various foster homes, his charismatic spirit and histrionic personality disorder masking the scars of a deeply traumatic childhood. His journey took a turn when he was placed with a new foster family, a couple determinded to offer him warmth and stability, albeit for just one year.
He was hesitant about attempting to get close to them, as he knew how easily his previous foster homes had dropped him. Conflicts and strained relationships followed, as Aria's behaviour was far from exemplary in high school. His foster parents Deryn and Xin Yi's love for him however, remained.
Mable kept in contact with him throughout the years following their separation, but the two didn't get to see each other again until their senior year of high school. They reunited at age 17, when Aria moved back to Evergreen Harbor to live with Deryn and Xin Yi purely by chance. He told Mable about the nature of his relationship with Nathan, which came as no surprise to her. She literally had her suspicions since day 1.
Aria met his next love interest, Niamh, at a party. Immediate attraction and easy-flowing conversations followed. He eventually asked her out on a date. Despite Aria's initial trust in his ability to move on from Nathan, frequent panic attacks and feelings of guilt proved the opposite. Niamh confronted him on the night of prom with a false rumour about him cheating on her. He hesitantly went along with it despite it being untrue, thinking it would be an easier and less painful way out compared to coming clean about his relationship with his dead friend. Didn't go as planned obviously, both of them were heartbroken and Aria got his ass beat by Niamh's best friend Nika.
He is currently prepping his uni application with Mable. The two are aiming to go to Britechester together.
Some random facts
Music has always been an outlet for Aria, ever since his elementary school teacher introduced him to the piano. He's a talented singer too!
He's afraid of death and the dark.
He smokes and grows his own weed but stays away from other drugs.
He picked up babysitting as a side gig, partially to avoid raising his foster parents suspicions regarding the money he makes from selling weed.
But the feeling of warm, wet sand beneath him... it felt so real. It was hard not to just lay there forever. But soon the patter of rain stirred him, drenching him further. He groaned, coming to his senses enough to feel the throbbing in his head. And also... something else.
It felt like someone was holding him. He blearily blinked his eyes open. There was someone hovering over him, though he couldn’t quite make them out through his daze. They looked worried. He smiled, and tried to say something, a thanks, maybe. But the moment they noticed he was awake, they darted away.
He sat up as quickly as he could, but his throbbing headache kept him from moving. He looked about, but the last splashes subsided, and whoever he had briefly seen was gone.
He sat there in the rain, the thankfully humid air keeping him from getting chilled, and lost himself in his thoughts.
Where was he? What happened?
He couldn’t remember a thing.
The Isle of the Midnight Sun: Generation I, Nathaniel Lovett
Sure enough, after a meal and some much needed homely relaxation, the rain eventually let up. It was exciting at first, to be going somewhere where there would actually be some people, but it quickly took a turn for Nathan.
Maika seemed to rush off to the restroom once they got to the bar, and Nathan was left alone surrounded by the bargoers. It felt like the room was spinning—everyone was talking in every direction. Nate didn’t even know where the bathroom was in this place.
Every smile sent his way felt mocking. They could all tell he wasn’t from around here, couldn’t they? The conversations going on around him had to be at his expense, he was sure of it. The panicked look on his face probably made him look ridiculous, He didn’t know what to do. Should he order a drink? Try to meet people? Oh god, what was taking Maika so long?
He hid his face in his hands, as if that’s somehow keep people from looking at him. Time felt like ti was going too fast and too slow all at once. But finally, he felt hands on his shoulders and he nearly pulled back before he met Maika’s worried gaze.
It was a familiar look Maika had given him. There was no pity in it, simply genuine concern. Nathan could hear him speaking soft reassurances, though he couldn’t quite make out the words. He felt like an idiot, but he surrendered into the arm around his shoulders that guided him into the square outside the bar.
Maika found a bench and sat them both down with nothing but patience. It started to rain again, but Nathan decided he’d much rather be soaked than lost in a group of people.
“I’m sorry,” Nathan muttered as he wiped raindrops from his face. He finally felt a bit calmer.
“Why?”
“I—” He was perplexed that he was even questioned, “We didn’t even get drinks, o-or anything,” he averted his eyes and bit his lip, ashamed.
“We can get something to make drinks back at the lodge. Hey—” Maika put an arm around Nathan’s shoulders again and urged him to meet his eyes, “It’s okay. Let’s get outta the rain.” He smiled that smile of his, and despite his mouth being full of unnaturally sharp teeth, it was one of the most comforting things Nathan could be met with.
It took some doing, but the pair eventually found their way to Selvadorada. Nathan was awestruck. It was amazing. And it didn’t look deserted! With what little money he’d been able to scrounge up, he was able to rent a place to stay for a couple days. A real house... with a real bed.
“It might be harder to leave than I thought,” Nathan chuckled, but Maika was already headed inside. Nathan barely even noticed, he was so taken by the scenery.
“Hey,” he heard Maika say behind him, causing him to look back. He blinked, blinked again. Oh my god. He sure did find some clothes. He looked like a mess, a ridiculous, sexy mess. Nathan laughed, and he couldn’t tell if he was blushing or if the humidity was getting to him. But with the way Maika smiled at him, he figured he was probably blushing.
Raindrops started to fall, a drizzle at first, but soon came down in sheets. The pair rushed inside, though Maika didn’t seem to mind it all that much.
“There’s a bar in town, why don’t we go once the rain lets up?” Maika suggested. He seemed to be rather amused with Nathan’s disgruntlement with the rain.
“Oh! Um, s-sure. That sounds nice,” he managed a smile as he moved to the kitchen, once again amazed by having actual appliances. “Are you hungry? ‘Cause I could really eat somethin’ other than fish,” he grinned, and set to making a real meal. It was simple, but probably the best thing Nathan had ever tasted.
