Simón proposes to Ámbar one morning in their apartment, and then later that day, they're celebrating their engagement.
"Mine," he says, moving inside her, their fingers intertwined because that way he can feel the ring. "Yours," he says, because he is, and kisses her. "Forever."
Ámbar laughs at his excitement, which has very little to do with the activity they're participating in and much more with just happiness for what's to come.
"We're not married yet," she reminds him.
"A technicality that I'd rectify in the nearest law office right now if you let me," he rasps out before continuing the hundred kisses he's pressing all over her.
Ámbar thinks about that for a minute. About how they'd known they wanted to get married for years. About how she'd just been waiting for him to pop the question to say yes. About how she'd never been more sure about anything.
"What if we do?"
Simón stops moving.
Their eyes meet, and they're both breathless, but the reason for it is changing quickly.
"What?"
"Find the nearest law office." Her heart is pounding, and it's not fear, it's anticipation. "We could call any of our friends to stand as witnesses and they'd be there in a second."
Simón's eyes search her own for her level of seriousness.
"Our families would kill us if we get married and they weren't there."
"I still want a big wedding," Ámbar tells him. "We can invite everyone then. We could have it in Cancún so even your extended family could make it. But in the meantime, we could already be married in paper."
Simón is still looking at her like he isn't sure if he should let himself believe this.
His hips roll of their own will, and a flutter of pleasure goes through both of them, reflected on their faces.
"You're serious?"
"Yes."
He gains momentum. "You want to marry me?"
Ámbar laughs through the resumed lack of air. "I already said yes."
"Fuck." He kisses her like he's going to die. "I love you, I love you, I love you—"
Ámbar keeps laughing joyfully until the moans don't let her.
After, when they'd come down, Simón asks her again, just in case her decision had been affected by the flood of hormones.
Ámbar assures him it wasn't.
Later that afternoon, they get married at sunset.
Simón left his country when he was eighteen.
Ámbar had a history of acting before thinking.
They both believe this is the best impulsive decision they have ever made.
“I scraped my knee and now you’re fixing it up and I swear if you don’t stop running your hands over my leg, I will kick you.”

Ámbar stormed out of the Jam and Roller. Furious was an understatement for how she was feeling. “No Ámbar, wait,” Simón yelled chasing after her. “For what. So you can tell me it was my fault and that I was the one to blame.” Simon was able to catch up to her and took a hold of her arm so she could stop. She turned around facing him this time and pushed her arm out of his hand. She pursed her lips in anger and barely wanted to see his face.
“Look Ambar I wasn’t trying to accuse you. I was only trying to ask if you were the one who took Luna’s lucky keychain. Sometimes we take things by accident.”
“Oh please Simón you know that’s a lie what you’re saying right now. You did accuse me of stealing it. Nobody just takes things by accident and you automatically assumed I purposely stole it. Look I know I’ve done bad things in the past but I have changed and I thought you saw that too but it turns out I was wrong.”
Simón began to stutter seeing Ámbar’s eyes water. “No no no I don’t doubt for a second you have changed ok. I was only curious that’s all. The keychain wasn’t appearing anywhere and you didn’t say a single word after Luna told us about it.”
Ámbar bit her lip holding back the tears. She didn’t say anything all day but for a reason. A reason she wasn’t comfortable to say yet. “Simón you can’t quickly assume it was me just because I stayed quiet in a conversation. That is a pity excuse and I thought you knew me very well and would have noticed I haven’t said a word all day before that conversation happened. But I was wrong, you don’t know me. All I am to you is some girl you imagine me to be. A vision of the perfect woman but you still linger onto the doubt that I haven’t changed.” Ámbar turns around and leaves clenching the strap of her shoulder back. The tears were slowly coming out now. She didn’t mean to say all of those harsh things to Simón cause she knows he truly does love her but she felt it was best and that he deserved it. He shouldn’t have assumed she would do something like that after she has numerously proved that she has changed for good. Out of all the people in the world, it had to be him who doubted her. When that thought settled in at that moment, the pain couldn’t escape her lungs.
Simón with his head down ambled to the Jam and Roller. There, Luna immediately greeted him. “Simón what happened? I saw you chasing after Ámbar, how did it go?” Simón scratching his head replied, “Horrible. It was the worst. And to be honest I deserved it. What was I thinking to question Ámbar is if she did it? I should’ve trusted her. She changed to become a better person for good and I, the idiot, doubted her. Now I don’t know what to do. She probably doesn’t ever want to see me again.” Luna didn’t know what to say or do other than hug him.
After a two minute silent hug, Luna broke free from his arms and said, “Look it’s going to take Ambar some time to forgive you but I know she will cause she loves you and knows you love her, but you will have to demonstrate that to her these upcoming days.”
“Like how? How can I be able to erase my act of stupidity from existence.”
Luna giggles. “Yes it was very stupid what you did but we’re all human and the important thing is you learned from your mistakes. You won’t be able to erase that moment from existence since that’s not possible but like I said you can truly show her that you are sincerely sorry and really do love her.”
“But the real question is how do I do that?” Simón being frustrated now.
Luna pauses for a second to think. “Well there are many ways you can show your love for Ámbar. You can write her a song, you can surprise her with a gift, or you can hire a mariachi band to sing to her how sorry you are.” Luna then nudged Simon’s arm and he let out a little chuckle.
“Luna, Mariachi bands may have been able to save us many times but I don’t think it can save me this time. Tú Carcel isn’t that powerful either so don’t even think about it.”
Luna then frowned and jokingly said, “Simón, how dare you disrespect our song that way. Ámbar probably wasn’t singing it that day but I can guarantee you, she was singing it in her head.”
“No but I really blew it this time Luna. I doubted her and lost all of her trust after everything we have gone through together.”
Luna froze for a second. She hasn’t seen Simón so disheartening in ages. “Look Simón, what you did was wrong but you can’t give up on love so easily. Plus, we’re all human and bound to make mistakes. Eventually she will understand and forgive you.”
Simón rapidly took his hands out of his face to now cover his mouth in shock. “No no no I’m so stupid!”
“Well you definitely can be at times but I thought we already cleared up that topic since you came back here.”
“No it’s that I forgot to apologize. The whole time I was too busy trying to find excuses that I forgot to tell her I was sorry,” Simón stuttered.
“Then what are you waiting for, do it now!” Luna demanded.
“I can't, it's too late already and I’m in charge of closing up the Jam and Roller today,” Simón whined.
“Well then you’ll do it first thing in the morning.”

Ámbar slammed the door shut behind her. Her anger lingered around the air, ever since she entered the mansion, like strong perfume. Everyone in the house noticed the vibe and felt it was best to leave her alone. Well almost everyone. She paraded around her room scrambling for her journal. She had officially decided for a month now to let out her anger in a journal. She felt like this coping mechanism was easier to work with than her mirror sessions. She had a precise plan laid out. She would write down her feelings, rip the page out of her notebook and stick it into the paper shredder. The paper shredder was a better choice than doing it by hand so no one would even be able to tape back the pieces.
Right when she finally found her journal and a pen to use, she heard a knocking at the door. “Who could it possibly be now,” Ámbar agitated wondered. Ambar got up from the covers and annoyingly turned the knob of her door. Her face quickly changed when she saw it was Monica there. “Hi Ámbar. I wanted to tell you goodnight before you went to bed.”
“Was that all you wanted to tell me cause it seems like there’s more.” Ámbar sounded more irritated than what she meant it to be. She sincerely was curious but found it hard to show it.
“Well you appeared upset ever since you came and it made me worried. Since I am a mom, maybe I can help. It’s ok you can talk to me… or not whichever is your choice just know I’ll always be here.”
Ámbar now stared at the floor, contemplating what to say next. The only other person she felt a little more comfortable with when opening up, other than Simon, was surprisingly Luna’s mom. She always wished ever since she was little to have somebody there to talk to and listen to her, no matter how stupid or unimportant the topic may have sounded.
“I guess you can come in.”
Monica slowly took a few steps into Ámbar’s room. At the time Ámbar didn’t realize Monica was carrying something till now. She took out a tray of delicacies from her behind and placed them on the coffee table. There was a cup of milk, a plate of chocolate chip cookies, and a bowl of precisely cut fruit. They were in the shape of little stars. Ámbar couldn’t stop but stare at the food.
“I already ate dinner,” Ámbar coldly stated.
“I know you have but you forgot dessert. I brought you some options so you can pick what you like. I even cut up the fruit into little stars since I know that’s your favorite shape.”
“You do?!!”
“Of course I do. I remember you once said it in a conversation we had at the dinner table.”
Ámbar couldn’t help but get a little teary-eyed. No one has ever put this much effort for her. In fact no one has ever known her favorite shape was a star, not even her best friends Delfi and Jazmin. It’s her favorite ship since it reminds her of the birthmark she has at the side of her stomach. Monica noticed the shiny, watery glare in Ámbar’s eyes. She thought of the best thing to do, and that was to hug her. Ámbar really started crying in her warm, and gentle embrace.
“Shh it’s ok hija. It’s ok. You’re safe with me.”
The hug lasted for a good ten minutes. Once Ámbar cried out all the tears she had held in, she broke free from the hug.
“Thank you…. It’s just me and Simon got in an argument and I know that may sound so stupid cause it’s boy drama but it’s more than that -”
Monica immediately cut Ámbar off and said, “It’s not stupid at all and you don’t have to give me an excuse dear, I completely understand.”
This came as a shock to Ámbar. She wasn’t used to this at all. Whenever she wanted to talk about anything outside of school to Sharon, her Madrina would scold her for wasting her attention on useless topics and people.
“Well it’s just I’m worried that no one will ever believe the fact that I have truly changed. How everyone will probably still see me as the same manipulative mean girl I used to be. I’m tired of gaining everyone’s trust and belief. I really have changed but I don’t know what else to do so they can realize that,” Ámbar now sat down slouching.
“Ámbar you don’t have to prove to anyone that you have changed. You’ve already been showing it for quite a long time now. Don’t beat yourself up so hard for this. For some people it takes longer than others to trust again. Try not to focus your energy on those people. If they can’t see the incredible person I see right in front of me, then it's their loss.”
“You truly think so.”
“I know so.”

“Wait, Ámbar slow down,” Simón yells out a mile away from her. Ámbar decided to skate in the morning to the Jam and Roller today. She tried to take the other route to avoid Simón, but he knew that she likes to take this path whenever she’s angry, especially at him.
“Can you please stop following me. I don’t want to talk to you.”
“Ámbar I came to apologize and say I’m sorry.”
This came off as a shock to Ámbar. “You wh-” Thump. Due to her attention being solely focused on Simón, she didn’t realize the big hole on the pavement. Her foot lost control of the wheel and her knee slid on to the pure concrete. Ámbar was on the floor now in pain, clenching on to her knee. It was bleeding and she tried to not show any signs of pain.
Simón came faster than lightning. “ÁMBAR!” He bent down to the floor and examined her knee. He then slid his backpack off of his shoulders and unzipped it. He took out a napkin and hurriedly cleaned off the blood streaming down her lower leg. His touch felt like an electric zap and the way his fingers swept across her leg made her badly want to kick him now. She’s still angry at him but deep down finds him very romantic the way in how he’s stressing out about her. She shook her head out of a daydream, surprisingly feeling like her prince charming coming to the rescue. She doesn’t need a prince even though having one right by her side feels nice. She may be a damsel in distress but can handle this all on her own.
“Look it’s ok. I can fix it just let me be.”
“No you’re not okay Ámbar. I don’t care what else you say, and be mad at me for all that matters but I’m not leaving you alone. I can’t bear to witness you hurt. So go ahead and complain all you want but I’m not leaving.”
Ámbar froze at his response. He untied the plaid shirt around his waist and instead wrapped it around her leg. Before he was able to hear a response from her, he picked her up and carried her bridal style. He skated like the Flash, almost never before. She couldn’t help but stare at Simón’s worry look plastered all over his face. Now the electricity in her is building up into fireworks, her heart has never beaten so fast in her life. She can feel his tense grasp around her waist and legs. This position actually felt comforting for her, as if she can stay in his arms forever.
Right then and there Ámbar realized how it didn’t matter if people didn’t believe her or not on whether she has changed. She has people by her side who truly care about her.
“You know I’m still mad at you.”
“You can be mad at me for an eternity. I deserve it. As long as you're healthy and safe while you scold me, I’ll forever be happy. I truly am sorry by the way. I do trust you and I don’t know why I even doubted you for a second, it was such a dumb decision and I truly regret it,” Simón panted.
“Good. You should regret it. You apologizing and running to help me, not necessarily saving since I don’t need saving, has made me a little less angry at you.”
Simón chuckled. “I love you so much bonita. Never forget that.”

This took forever but yeah, here it is. Enjoy, it didn’t turn out as well as I had thought but I think it’s okay.
Caught Kissing
After spending an entire day on the rink due to training for the next competition, it was finally time to go home for Ámbar and Simón. Before they do, they decided to spend some extra time on the rink.
They didn’t do the choreography for the competition but instead, they did some freestyle moves like the one they did during their very first competition as a dancing couple. They did more steps like Simón dipping Ámbar and do the tunnel. They were laughing and having fun, not like when they were training. It was a nice release of all the nerves they were having due to the close competition date.
After they were done on the rink, they decided to drink a smoothie in the cafeteria before they parted ways but neither of them wanted that but they were too stubborn to admit that. Their relationship is a bit complicated. It felt like they were growing apart, they’ve been having a lot of arguments lately but they’re both tired of it but they also refuse to aplogize to the other.
Today was a day where they didn’t fight, mostly because they were too busy worrying about getting the steps right for next week. They were actually having fun with just the two of them after a long time and they wanted this to last but they didn’t know how to stop this constant fighting.
Eventually, Simón was the one to decide this once and for all, so they were sitting at a table in the cafeteria, drinking their smoothie in silence when he’s the one who breaks the silence: “Okay, I can’t do this anymore.” He takes a deep breath and continues. “I think we need to talk.”
Ámbar tried not to show any emotion on her face but she was very nervous so she went with: “Yeah, I think we do.” She was fidgeting with her fingers underneath the table so he wouldn’t see and added: “But I think we should do it more privately. Is it okay if we go to my place to have a talk?” His only answer was a nod.
They finished their smoothie back in silence and they said goodbye to the friends who were still hanging around Jam & Roller.
They didn’t exchange a word all the way to the mansion. Ámbar knew Sharon wasn’t home now so she was they wouldn’t be disturbed since the Valentes still work for them. It was time they both laid it all out on the table. The talk they were about to have was long overdue.
She slowly unlocked the door once they arrived and she led him to the living room. She motioned for him to sit on the couch and asked: “Would you like something to drink first?”
Simón shook his head and answered: “No, I’m good.”
This made her sit on the couch and there was an awkward silence hanging around them. It felt a bit suffocating. After what seemed like hours when it was in fact just a few minutes, the silence was broken.
“Listen, I…”
“Look…”
They both started at the same time and they burst out laughing to ease up the awkwardness which helped a little.
“Can I go first?” he asked her. She just nodded which made him continue. “Listen, I don’t know what exactly happened between us that made us fight this much lately but to be honest, I didn’t like a single bit of it. In fact, I hated the fact that we were at each other’s throats almost every day. I don’t want to fight you anymore, Ámbar. It isn’t helping any of us and I just want to be happy again and the only way I will be is if we leave all the fighting and arguments behind. I’m sorry for every bad thing I said, I never meant them and I’m also sorry for fighting and arguing so much.” He took a deep breath after his speech, scared of her reaction.
They were turned to each other on the couch and a huge genuine smile broke out on her face and he couldn’t help but smile back at that but she wanted to say a few things too: “I totally agree with you and I also don’t know why we kept fighting, it was pointless and it made us miserable. I’m sorry too, for the way I acted, I acted like I used to be whenever I was around you and I feel so bad about that, I also want to leave this all behind and just enjoy the fact that we’re finally together because it took us so long to get here. Can you forgive me?” she added shyly.
All he did was smile and say: “Of course I would, why wouldn’t I?”
This made her jump in his arms and wrap her arms tight around him. He returned the hug after he got over the surprise, this is the closest they’ve been in a while and they both missed this so much. They held each other tight like they were afraid that the other was going to disappear if they did let go. Her head was buried in his chest while he rested his chin on top of her haird, nothing else needed to be said, all they needed was this and they knew everyhting would be alright between them.
They slowly pulled apart after a few minutes and just looked each other in the eyes. Ámbar’s eyes slowly drifted to his lips and he noticed this gesture and it gave him the signal to do what he’s been wanting to do for so long. He leaned closer to her, still careful to ensure she could pull away whenever she wants but she didn’t, she leaned in as well. Their lips brushed and surely, they were kissing after weeks and it felt new yet so familiar. Their keeps deepened fast and got more passionate, it was obvious they missed each other a lot and they wanted to put everything they feel in the kiss. Before she knew it, she was straddling him and his hands were around her waist while her hands were around his neck, tangling her fingers in his hair. This feeling was bliss for both of them.
But all too soon, the blissful moment was over when they heard a familiar voice: “What are you doing?! They almost shouted.
This made the couple pull apart and look at the source of the voice, of course it was Sharon. Sharon was holding her heart and she suddenly didn’t feel well. Ámbar quickly scrambled away from Simón and sat as far away from as the couch allowed, she didn’t want it to end like this and she felt a bit embarrased about this whole ordeal.
"I need to rest but we’re not done talking about this, Ámbar.” Sharon said and went up to her room.
Both their nerves were on edge and were embarrased they were caught in a compromising position. After a pause of a few minutes, she spoke up: “Maybe, it’s best if you go home now. My godmother won’t be happy to see you once she’s down but I’ll call you later tonight.”
This got Simón to stand up from the couch and she followed him shortly after. “I understand.”
“I’ll walk you to the door.” she said.
When they were at the door, he said: “I love you.” and gave her a kiss on the cheek.
This didn’t satisfy her so she gave him a peck on the lips, still scared someone might catch them again. “I love you too.” she automatically answered.
With that, he went out the door and she watched his retreating back until she couldn’t see him anymore. But all she could think about was what’s waiting for her once Sharon got her rest and sees her again. She just hoped it wouldn’t be too bad.

Summary: After an awkward encounter on the Jam & Roller where a certain drink was offered, Simón goes back to the loft and is left with mixed feelings... which he later mixes with tequila.
Warnings: An obvious Ed Sheeran reference on the title, Marvel vs. DC discourse, angst, fluff and an unexpected plot twist.
He should be sleeping by now.
The loft is completely dark. Pedro, Nico and Matteo are carelessly snoring the night away. But Simón is wide awake: staring at the ceiling, still processing the events from the past few days.
He closes his eyelids and his heart flutters at the memory of them singing while looking at each other, lyrics flowing out of their tongues like bottled up emotions. Or hugging her in the locker room, her pleads for him to not leave her alone tightening his arms around her.
It seems unreal how things went downhill in a matter of hours.
He replays Ja-Jazmín’s “Bembar” video one last time, and the audio just plays back to a supercut of moments engraved on his brain that seem to crumble whatever feeling resides on his chest for her right now, as easy as a piece of paper does: Benicio and Ámbar on stage, them skating together for what he thought was the first time and how they complemented each other so easily.
He goes to take a sip out of his bottle before he realizes that it’s empty. He drops it on the rug and it rolls away from him.
He should be sleeping by now… but instead, he’s trying to drown his feelings for Ámbar in tequila (and failing terribly, by the way).
He was lucky he found a cab at… 3:13 AM, according to his cellphone.
“The code to the gate is my birthday. It’s the only thing my grandpa wouldn’t forget.” Luna had indicated in an opportunity.
When the code was in, the gate opened with a loud mechanic noise and he went past it, guitar on his back. Simón uselessly shushed the engine, and waited for the door to close before he made his way through the garden.
All of the windows were closed. She probably was asleep. He would have to serenade her awake.
Not that he minded, though.
Ámbar couldn’t sleep that night either. Her head was buried into her pillow, trying to suppress the loud memory replaying in her head.
“Ambar- I saw you dancing with Simon. I thought you were over what you guys had but… I guess I was wrong.”
“No, you weren’t. I have nothing to do with Simón anymore.”
“Nothing that you wanna admit…”
The blonde leaned forward, brushed hair out of her face and huffed loudly, resigned to the fact that it would bother her until she did something about it.
“Ámbar, I’ve told you a million times to take over your feelings! Do you wanna be your old self again? ...Be careful Ámbar. Don’t you go and fall in love with him all over again.”
“Emilia- I’ll never fall in love again.”
“I wish I believed you.”
She did, too.
Esto es amor o es una señal para escaparle al miedo
No puedo evitar mi estupidez
Este no soy yo, oh
That was Simón. A raspy version of his voice singing along to messy chords- but it was Simón, give or take. Was Luna seriously listening to music out loud at 3 AM? She was so going to get it…
She turned on the lights and got up the bed, walking fast to the door before a specific yell stopped her:
“Bonita!”
Shit.
She traced her steps back, looked down the window and her mouth fell open at the sight:
Simón was on the garden, his signature guitar hanging on his torso as he yelled:
“Bonita! This song is for you!”
No digas nada
Solo toma tu tiempo
Un tiempo de amor
Ya no preguntes más
Y cierra los ojos
Sentir es mejor
What the hell did he think he was doing? She had to do something.
Quizás sea el momento de tomar un tiempo…
“Simón!”
“Yes, bonita?”
“What the hell do you think you’re doing?! You’re going to wake my grandfather!”
“I don’t care. You hear me? I don’t care! The world is going to hear how much I love you!”
“Simón! I mean it. Keep. Your voice. Down.”
“You look beautiful under the moonlight, Ámbar Smith.”
Heat rose up to her cheeks, and she looked away to think properly of a comeback: “…and you’re drunk, Simón Álvarez.”
“Only drunk in love, bonita.”
She rolled her eyes. “Ugh- don’t move. I’ll be down in a second.”
Looking like a gothic queen, her black marabou night robe-clad figure quickly sneaked her way down the stairs, rushing to the main door. As soon as it was open, she stuck her head out.
“Simón!” She called him in a whisper, and he turned his head. “Get in! It’s cold out there.”
He rushed to the door and got inside. “You, Ámbar, are an angel.”
“Yeah, yeah- just get in, will you?”
Being quicker than his clouded mind, he tripped on his own two feet and she had to catch him.
“Careful! I could get in serious trouble if my granddad finds out I’m sneaking you in like this.”
Simón frowned. “I thought you didn’t care about your grandfather.”
She swung Simón’s arm over her shoulders and helped him walk. “I actually do, it’s just that… he thinks I’m not ‘in line with this family’ because I’m not like Luna. But I couldn’t be like her. I couldn’t be like anyone, actually. I can only be me.”
Simón was getting heavier by the minute. No, no, no, no, no, no. No way. He couldn’t fall asleep. “Simón!”
His eyes flew open. “AH! What?”
“Don’t fall asleep!”
“Sorry. It’s just that I’m so tired and your hair smells so nice, I just…-”
She huffed. “You don’t need to explain yourself to me.”
They made it to the stairwell. “Left foot, then right foot. Okay?”
“Yeah.” But he had zero balance whatsoever, so as soon as he tried he found himself on the verge of falling face down on the steps.
He was lucky he had Ámbar. “Forget it. Just hold on tight to me and try to lift your feet.”
“Good idea.”
They spent a good 5 minutes going up a 30-step stairwell.
“I need you to be super quiet now because someone could definitely hear us in this hallway. Now, let’s get your shoes off.”
Ámbar squatted down and undid his laces.
“Lift one foot,” she instructed, and he held tight to her shoulder as he lifted his right foot. She took his shoe off to reveal an Spiderman logo on the sole of his sock. “Really? Spiderman?”
“What about it? I love everything Marvel.”
“Everything? Are you sure about that?”
“Of course!” He raised his voice to accentuate his confidence, and Ámbar shushed him. “Sorry.”
“Just lift your other foot.”
“Why are you so-? Wait a minute. Are you a DC fan?”
“I’m not saying anything. Now, lift your other foot.”
Simón did as she said. “You didn’t answer.”
Ámbar huffed as she took the other shoe off and stood up. “Yes, I am a DC fan.”
“Why?”
She started walking alongside Simón towards her room. “I know that DC may not have the best movies… but it sure has the best TV series out of both universes. And I like more characters from DC than I do from Marvel.”
“Which ones do you like?”
“...I like Harley Quinn.”
“Oh, my God… How did I ever date such a snob?”
They both got in and she locked the door. “I’m not a snob!”
“Oh, really? Prove it.”
She threw herself onto the bed and sighed. “It’s not that I necessarily like Harley Quinn, I just think it’s a realistic and well-developed character. Just think about it: she was a brilliant woman who fell in love with a criminal. Love is blind and unexpected, so I respect it. It’s not that I support the dynamic between her and the Joker, though, even before she actually became Harley Quinn. A character I actually support though, is Poison Ivy. She was mistreated by her coworker and she took revenge. Also, she is hot as fuck and she is in a relationship with Harley in the comics, so…-”
“Why is that you are so into villains?”
“Are you kidding? Without villains, there would be no plot!”
“Okay, fair enough…- but, isn’t there any good guy you like?”
Ámbar thought it through, pursing her lips. “Well… I like Flash.”
“Really? Why not Superman or, you know, Batman?”
“Flash is humble. He is funny, and good, and decent. I think that if Superman didn’t feel the need to prove himself to others, I would rather like him.”
Simón was in awe. “What do we really know about Ámbar Smith? She has a soft spot for good guys.”
Ámbar’s smile fainted and turned into a frown in less than a second. “I am not soft.”
“Yes, you are.”
She crossed her arms as she leaned forward to sit up on her bed. “No, I am not!”
“You are!”
“Shut up, Simón!” Ámbar yelled in annoyance as she threw a pillow at Simón’s head.
“Ouch! That actually hurt, Ámbar. You could have cracked my skull with that pillow you threw just now.” He whined, and the blonde had to stifle a laugh.
She tried to keep a straight face as she insisted: “I believed I told you to shut up.”
“And I believe I just made you smile.”
Was she so obvious? “This is not a smile! Don’t you see? This is my disgust face, I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Simón giggled between cute little hiccups. “Right. Whatever. Let’s say I believe you.”
“Believe me? It’s the truth, Simón. It’s not a matter of perspective. You just saw it happen.”
Simón’s laughter became dry. “Ámbar…”
“What?” She let out in a harsh tone. That tone she used for everyone except for her friends. No, scratch that- except for Simón. But this time was different.
This time he was on her room, asking her about fiction and calling her names he didn’t mean, laughing like a fucking dork. It just reassured what Emilia had said the night of the party, and that bothered her. She couldn’t fall in love again. All that love did for her was break and end.
Her ears tuned in to the sound of his voice. “Why…” he cleared his throat to say this in the most hurtful tone he could use, “…why did you bring me back to your room?”
“What do you mean?”
“I mean- you could’ve called a cab, or snuck me in to Luna’s room,” Simón got off the chair and walked around the room, “so… why are you taking care of me?”
Because I care about you was the only answer she couldn’t go wrong with, but her feelings were at stake. “B-because…”
“Because of what, Ámbar?”
Ámbar musted up courage and got up to answer this time. “…Because you left me no choice! Simón, you literally just sang a window serenade to me. I knew you wouldn’t leave me alone until I gave you the attention you wanted from me.”
Simón blinked, offended. “Attention?”
“Yes, attention.”
“I think I’m not the only one seeking attention over here.”
“Are you saying what I think you’re saying?”
“I don’t know, let’s find out. What do you think I’m saying?”
“I think you’re saying I’m an attention seeker.”
“Yes!”
“Then you’re an idiot!”
“Why? Ámbar, you’ve been acting so weird lately. With your dark outfits, and your pretentious attitude towards everyone, and even this room makeover you’ve put up- just to fit in your new group of friends!”
She shook her head, wearing a cynic smirk on her face even when each reproach was landing like an arrow on her heart. “You really have no idea, do you Simón?”
“Why? What could you possibly say to prove me wrong?”
“Simón, I did this because of you! I did this… because of the Roller guys! Simón, I had changed! And they still didn’t see it. Only you did.”
Simón suddenly felt himself sober up with her words: “…and that used to be enough for me. But then I lost you, and I had no one left. The Sliders gave me an opportunity, no matter who I was or what I had done in the past. It was a new slate for me, and I needed it.”
“If you call breaking Juliana’s Crystal Skate with Benicio a new slate.”
“At least Benicio stuck up for me when I needed him to!”
“You are aware that’s not going to last for long, right? I have told you a million times that Benicio is the most cheating, treacherous, fake, backstabbing asshole I’ve ever met! Plus, you’ve only known Emilia for so long and you think she’s your friend?”
“I have told you a million times I don’t care what you have to say!” Except she did, and that made it harder to lie to him when she said: “Emilia, unlike you, was there when I needed her. Simón, I couldn’t move on if you were going to be there reminding me of all that I’d done wrong. I had to get away from you. You were bad for me!”
Simón held his hand in the air, cutting her speech as she walked up to her. “Hold on a second- bad for you?”
Ámbar came closer as well. “Yes! Bad for me!”
Simón’s eyes became foggy with tears as he let out broken sounds: “Then how come Luna and all of the Roller guys think I’ll be the one in danger if I get too close to you?”
He really knew how to be her ultimate weakness.
The ambient seemed to shift with the lingering question.
“Simón…” Ámbar cupped his face just as he had done just the day before and she felt him relax under her touch. He trusted her, and he couldn’t conceal that. “Only you and I know what we both feel.”
Simón felt dizzy. Not buzzed, or funny. He felt dizzy from her scent, from their tempting closeness, from her eyes staring into his.
“Ámbar…” he licked his lips as he stole a glance at hers.
Her answer was barely a graceful whisper at this point. “Yes, Simón?”
“I-I… fuck it- I’m just going to ask you.”
Ámbar grabbed his hands and straightened her posture. “Just say it.”
“Yeah- sure, I’m just going to say it.”
Simón felt uneasy with what the words he was about to say would risk. It felt as if his heart was on his throat. Eventually, he opened his mouth and there was no going back.
Except, it wasn’t his heart that was on his throat.
It was puke.
It landed everywhere: on Ámbar’s nightgown, on the carpet… and even on his socks.
Ámbar didn’t know what to do. She quickly took off her robe, rushing him to the bathroom.
After a final “I’m never going to drink again”, Simón had been done puking. She had been cautious enough to scape a grounding, so after changing into an old pink night-robe, she dragged an inflatable mattress to Luna’s room where he could fall asleep in on his tired-out state. She came to realize Luna was a heavy sleeper.
Simón’s phone vibrated on his pocket, and she realized: the guys were probably worried about him. He had gone out in the middle of the night, and it had been maybe 2 hours since that. They had to work early that day at the Jam & Roller.
When she checked his phone, the messages from the “Roller Band” group chat proved further her theory:
Pedro: Simón, where are you?
Nico: Simón????
Matteo: Chill out guys, maybe he went out to buy something
Pedro: Oh, really? What would he buy, then?
Matteo: How the fuck am I supposed to know?
Nico: Guys, don’t fight. Maybe he felt sick and went to buy an aspirin or some shit like that
Pedro: Maybe I would chill if he actually answered
Matteo: Simón
Matteo: Simón
Matteo: SIMÓN FOR FUCK’S SAKE
Pedro: SIMÓN BLINK TWICE IF YOU’RE READING THIS
Nico: Pedro, you’re communicating with him via text.
Ámbar didn’t know what to do as the texts kept popping up on the screen. She quickly thought of something:
Simón: I’m alive. Sorry. Luna had a panic attack about a nightmare she had, so I stayed over to help her sleep. She just fell asleep, but I’m going to spend the rest of the night here just in case.
Nico: You mean, morning
Simón: Wdym?
Pedro: Simón, it’s 5:24 am.
Fuck.
Simón: Right
Simón: Sorry. I’m just so tired I can’t even read anymore
Nico: It’s okay. I’ll cover your morning shift, but you have to be here by 1 pm. Got it?
Simón: Yes. Thank you so much Nico, you are a lifesaver
Nico: It’s nothing.
Matteo: Simón
Simón: What?
Matteo: Why is there an empty bottle of tequila on the living room?
She bit her lip as she thought of an excuse.
Simón: SHIT! I forgot
Simón: I was going to take out the trash and I placed it on plain sight so I wouldn’t forget it
Simón: Sorry guys
Pedro: It’s fine, Simón. I was going to take out the trash before we left in the morning anyways
Simón: Thanks, Pedro
She carefully put his phone back on his pocket and sighed in satisfaction of her own doing.
While tip-toeing back to her room, she ran into her grandfather.
“Ámbar? What did I tell you? You have to sleep early! What are you doing awake?”
Ámbar was taken by surprise, and a beat passed as she thought of an excuse. “I feel sick, grandpa.”
“You do?” Ámbar nodded and Alfredo took her into his arms. “What is it?”
“I don’t know, but I threw up half an hour ago.”
“Oh, Ámbar… come on: let’s get you to bed. I’m going to give you medicine and you’re going to have some rest. I can’t let you go to Uni like this.”
She feigned worry. “But, grandpa, I have to go!”
“Not a chance, Ámbar. It’s for your own good. You’ll spend the day in.”
Downside was, she would have to confront Gary about her absence on that day’s Red Sharks practice.
Good thing was, her grandfather actually loved her. And being taken care of didn’t sound so bad.
Hello! Um so.. this is my first Simbar fic ever so please don’t judge me too hard 😅I tried okay?😁 I hope you’ll enjoy it, you can give me some feedback on what sucked and in what I could get better🤷🏻♀️ or just your opinion would be fine. I want to thank my twinnie Emma @deliverygirlx for giving me advices through out the writing process and for proofreading. I love you❤️ and then one big THANK YOU to the squad (you know who you are❤️) for encouraging me to write🙈 It means a lot.💕 I lava you, girls!!❤️❤️
Okay I’m done now, you can start reading
Ambar was sitting on her bed, staring at nothing and thinking about the Prom, which is coming closer and closer. It’s basically in a week and she still doesn’t have a date! I mean, she could ask any boy to go with her, it’s easy like that… except she doesn’t want to. Everytime she imagine dancing with a boy at her prom, she sees a cute little smile and soft brown eyes that are looking at her gently and.. cling . She jumps a little and blinks from her daydreaming. STOP! She can’t think like that! No. No, no, no, no! She takes her phone to look who’s writing her and then rolls her eyes at the message..
Jazmín: S.O.S.!! I need your advice immidiately! Roller in 20 minutes! It’s SUPER SUPER IMPORTANT!!
Twenty minutes later she arrives at the Roller. Before she enters, she suddenly becomes nervous and starts mumbling.
“Please don’t be here. Please don’t be here… okay Ambar. Breathe in and breathe out. What is wrong with you??” She puts on her confident face and enters the Roller. The first thing she does is look around carefully and when she doesn’t see him, she feels relieved.. but disappointed at the same time. She spots her friends and goes to sit down with them.
“So! What is it Jazmín?” she says instead of greeting them.
“Guess. You have one try..” says Delfi and rolls her eyes.
“I’m inviting Simon to prom and I need your advice how to do it in the most romantic way!!!” says Jazmín, almost jumping on her chair.
“What?” she stares at her in surprise, feeling like someone just punch her in the stomach with all their strength.
“What? Ambar! Concentrate please! This is super SUPER important okay? I need all of your ideas! So I was thinking: Simón coming to the Jam&Roller in the morning to work. Dark everywhere and then suddenly.. BAM! The lights are on and I will jump up from a huge box with a huge sign that will say: ‘PROM?’ BUT!! But!! There’s more okay?? Imagine Delfi filming that for Fab&Chic! LIVE! So the whole world can see Jamón finally get together!! Thousands of viewers, thousands of Jamón shippers! Ahhhh! PER-FECT. Genial right?” Jazmín clasps her hand excitedly.
Ambar bursts into laughing. “That’s one of the worst and most ridiculous ideas that you’ve ever had Jazmín. Please! Do you really think he would like that??!”
Jazmín frowns: “Really? And what would he liked then?”
Ambar imagines the brown eyes again and she get lost in her thoughts, doesn’t even realize she’s speaking out loud. “Something modest… just go to him and simply ask..he doesn’t like big things that catches attention. He’s too shy for that..”
She smiles unconciously and doesn’t see the puzzled look at Delfi’s and Jazmín’s faces.
“Just ask him? Without… anything ?!That’s SUPER OUT! How would you know anyway? You don’t know him like I do.”
She snaps out of her thoughts and swears in her head. Then put on a fake smile.
“Then why did you wanted my advice, Jazmín? It seems like you already have the perfect plan how to invite him! So why are you bothering me with it!!?” She doesn’t realize she’s screaming until she looks around and sees everybody staring at her. She takes her things and march out from the Roller.
Why is she so angry? What did Jazmín said that was so bad to start screaming? You don’t know him like I do … it keeps resonating in her head over and over again.
“Of course I don’t know him like she does! I don’t even want to know him more! Why would I? This is ridiculous! He’s just a stupid Lunita’s pet! I don’t even care if he goes to the prom with Jazmín! I can go with the hottest guy in this town! Ambar Smith can do so much better !” As soon as she gets home, she gets herself a hot date but for some reason, she doesn’t feel better at all. She actually feels worse than before. She lays down on her bed and can’t control the one tear that falls down her cheek..
She wokes up to a notification for Fab&Chic live. She’s immidiately wide awake and clicks on it to watch it. It opens right in the moment when Simon walks to the Roller and the lights turn on. She can’t believe Jazmín actually did it… she watches his shocked expression and when he says ‘Yes’, her world becomes a blur. She can’t see anything through the tears in her eyes but she’s glad she doesn’t see the rest. She doesn’t even want to imagine what came after that 'yes’. She throws the tablet across the room angrily and starts screaming.
“I don’t need neither of them!! I don’t need anyone !! I am Ambar Smith !!! Neither of these losers matters to me!”
She manages to avoid both of them for the rest of the week. She even manages to convince herself it means nothing to her anymore. When she arrives at the prom, everybody is looking at her and her hot date, Marcos, amazed. But she can’t enjoy the attention.. not tonight. She sees Delfi and Pedro, already dancing and she smiles at how happy they look together. She starts searching the crowd again carefully, and feels relieved when she doesn’t see them . She drags Marcos to the dance floor and start dancing with him. A few songs later she looks up and completely freezes. Coming through the entrance are Jazmín with Simón, Jazmín hanging on Simón, and both of them laughing at something. She can see his dimples and his wrinkles around his eyes which appears when he smiles. She wishes it wasn’t so loud in the room, so she could hear his cute laugh. Suddenly he looks at her too and their eyes meet. She feels like her heart missed a beat and she stops breathing. He smiles a little and wave at her. But before she raises her hand and wave back, he’s already looking at Jazmín again, who is dragging him to the dance floor right next to her and Marcos. She tries to push back the disappointment and pretend that nothing happened, but she can feel the lump in her throat. She tries to shake it off and concentrate on Marcos and dancing again, but she can’t stop looking at them, dancing just a few metres from her. Jazmín talking and laughing all the time, looking at him with heart eyes. You’d have to be blind not to see how much she likes him. She gets a wave of nauseous feeling at the thought and looks away. When she looks back, it isn’t Jazmín, who is facing her, but Simón. To her surprise it seems like he’s not paying attention to what Jazmín is saying, just barely smiling and nodding absently. She feels the need to smirk but then Simón leans closer to her and whispers something in her ear. Jazmín starts jumping excitedly and hugs him. When she gives him a kiss on the cheek, Ambar feels like her heart dropped down to the ground and the lump in the throat gets worse. She can feel tears burning in her eyes.
“I need to get some fresh air, sorry.” she lets go of Marcos and starts running to the exit, trying to hold the tears at least a few seconds more, until she’s outside.
She runs out of the building and finally lets the tears go. She feels like someone is ripping her heart out of her chest, so much pain, but at the same time she can’t help herself being angry. SO angry. With him, with Jazmín, but the most with herself . Angry for being so stupid to fall for a guy like him . For being so stubborn and not asking him first before Jazmín. For missing her chance. A sob escapes from her throat. She feels ridiculous, crying here on the street for a guy that she used to despise. She’s so lost in her thoughts that she doesn’t hear the door opening behind her.
“Hey..”
She jumps a little and when she recognize the voice, she freezes. She quickly wipes away her tears and tries to calm herself down.
“Are you okay?”
Still with her back turned to the voice, she crosses her arms and says nothing.
“You know… you don’t look like you’re having much fun at your prom..” he tries again.
“You don’t look like you’re having fun either!” she finally snaps back.
“Well, it’s not my prom, so I’m not important in this. I wouldn’t even be here… If a friend hasn’t asked me to go with her..”
“Right.”
“Hey.. what’s wrong?”
She can feel him coming closer and when he puts his hand on her arm, she winces and her skin starts tingling right at the place, where he touches her. He slowly turns her around so she faces him and she looks away, trying to pretend like she hadn’t had a breakdown just two minutes ago because of him.
“Everything’s fine! I just needed some air.. there’s so many people inside..” She tries to avoid his eyes, while he tries to analyze her face.
“Have you been crying?”
Dang it! Why does he have to be so good at reading her emotions?
“No! No I’m fine!” she tries to lie, although she knows he’ll see right through it.
“Stop lying to me. Did the guy say something to you? Or did?”
“Who?”
“The guy.. your… date .” the way he says the word 'date’ surprise her so much that she finally looks into his eyes. She realizes too late that it was a mistake and she gets lost in them straight away.
“Uh.. I mean.. No. No, it’s not him.. he didn’t do anything wrong..”
“Then what is it?” his clueless face makes her angry again.
“And why do you care so much?!!! Why don’t you go back in there and enjoy the rest of the night with Jazmín?!”
She can see the shock in his eyes. “What? Is this what’s it all about? You are jealous ?”
“I am NOT jealous okay!? You can do whatever you want! And go to prom with whoever you want! I don’t care okay!?”
“Who are you trying to convince here exactly? Me or you?” he says quietly.
She gasps but doesn’t say anything.
“You know… if you wanted to go to prom with me.. you could have just asked.. I would say yes.” His smile is making her feel week, but she tries to resist.
“And what makes you think I wanted to go with you?! Huh?”
“I don’t know… maybe the looks that you were giving us all night and the fact that when Jazmín hugged me, you ran away?”
She’s so shocked that she just opens her mouth, unable to say anything.
He giggles. “Yeah.. I thought so..”
She can feel her cheeks getting red. “That… that doesn’t mean anything!”
“Are you sure? Because if it have meant at least something .. I could do this…”
She doesn’t realize what is he trying to do until his lips are on hers and she feels like something inside her exploded. When he moves away after only a few seconds, she almost groans in frustration.
He smirks. “What about now? Still means nothing to you?”
She tries to remember how to breath properly and tries to calm down her heart that is beating way too fast. She bites her lip to stop her smile that starts appearing on her face and somehow manages to answer. “Nope. Still nothing…”
“Hmm… well in that case, I feel like I have to try again..”
He kisses her again, this time with more passion, taking her by the waist and bringing her closer to him. She answers his kiss with eagerness, while putting her hands around his neck, bringing him closer as well. If she’s ever imagined kissing him, the actual thing was a hundred times better. For a moment, she forget about everything else, perceiving only his lips on hers. When they break apart after a few more seconds, she feels like her knees will fail her at any moment now. He leans his forehead on hers and then pokes her nose with hers and smiles.
“Still nothing?” he asks breathless.
“I think this time it was maybe a little something…” she answers and looks at him, this time she can’t stop the smile that is appearing on her face.
“Well.. I think that’s a good start..” he laughs and leans in to kiss her again.
Hey guys! Since the fandom has been getting a lot more active lately and it's hard to keep track of all the amazing fics, I thought I'd make a masterlist. Below you'll find everything sorted by pairing and writer. (Yes, I did stalk everyone on this list for several hours) If I messed up something, let me know and I’ll change it. Same if you don’t want your fics or a specific fic on this masterpost. I’ll try to keep this updated but I’d appreciate it a lot if you could message me in case you just published something. It will then go onto this list, even if the pairing isn’t on yet. So don’t be afraid to come forward with any fics you might have written.
