take my hand and my heart and soul
this is a cute idea I had but like on sugar crack. Fair warning I hope to never write in this style again bc I’m cringing at my own writing trying to read this again but it’s just too hard for me. But I still wanted some nice little fluff for Valentine’s Day and not let it go to waste so I’m throwing it out there. ok, proceed. Happy Valentine’s Day everyone.
It was such a terrible day, to begin with. Every single one of his plans went out of the window as soon as the first droplet from the sky hit the pavement. Simon was frustrated as fuck not having any backup plans prepared for the day, yet he was moping behind the counter, not doing anything about it. Pretty much given up.
Simon wanted to make Valentine's day really special for Ambar this year, as last year had been a disaster with there being a fire in the restaurant they had gone to and they had to evacuate the building. Leaving the place without even having their meals delivered yet. They had gone home and ordered pizza with movies in replacement, but Simon just didn't feel it quite the same.
This time, he planned to set up a nice picnic in the middle of the park where they first kissed. With the biggest bouquet of flowers, he could find at the shop and all of her favorite foods. And he had checked the weather multiple times, it had only said a 20% chance of rain with mostly sunny skies. But of course, that completely turned against him making it pouring rain and left him stranded with nothing else at hand.
He heard the front door's bells ring and knitted his eyebrows in confusion. It was still early and the roller hadn't opened yet, but it was unlocked because that was how he got in this morning.
However, when he turned his head and saw the blonde girl coming to the bar in her uniform and a single rose in hand, he buried his head in his hands. It was too late for anything at this point in time. He knew she would be crushed when he learned he had nothing left for her that day. But he had to face the music sooner than later.
He slowly lifted his head up as he gave her a soft smile. She beamed at him as she presented him with the rose. "Happy Valentine's Day, Simon," she says sweetly as she reached up to kiss him on the cheek. He looked at the rose in his hand, twirling the stem in his fingers. He looked at the girl who was batting her eyelashes at him adoringly and biting her lip. "Aren't I supposed to be the one who gives you flowers?" he asks her as he winces. Concern grows on her face as she looks at him intently. "I don't think it matters on who gives it to who. Is something wrong? Do You Not like it?"
His eyes widen at her words. "No, not at all, I love it. Really, thank you," "Then what is it?" she asks him. He sighs loudly and takes her hand leading her to sit on the bar stool opposite of him. He takes both of her hands in his and hopes that with everything he won't be murdered today.
"Well you see, I had this great date prepared for us today. it was going to be a picnic outside in the park and have all of the works. But the rain kind of ruined all of that, so I have nothing else prepared for today, Bonita. I'm sorry," he says while looking down sullenly. Simon feels Ambar squeeze his hand and makes him look up. She giggles a bit as she rests her hand on his cheek. And he looks at her very confused.
"Why are you laughing?" he asks her. She shakes her head at him. "Because I love you. But I didn't mean for it to be like that. What I meant was, I already have a surprise for you," she says. This makes Simon grow even more curious and anxious. "Wait, a surprise? What?" She smirks at him a bit. "Yes, I do have a surprise for you. But I can't tell you what it is yet obviously because it's a surprise for a reason."
At this, his heart beats a bit faster, his curiosity completely taking over him. How was it that she was one step ahead of him?
Ambar looks behind her at the clock on the wall and realizes that she could be late. "I'm running late for school. But I'll text you everything you need to know later, okay? Bye," she kisses his cheek one more time and runs out the door, leaving him frozen in place.
He was definitely not expecting such a twist coming from her. It only made him more excited to see what she had in store. And the time would slowly kill him passing by, waiting for the moment to come.
It was nearing 7, which was the time Ambar had texted Simon to be ready by. Her details in the text were very scarce. Just to be ready by 7 and to wear something in between dressy and casual. He had no idea what the fuck that was supposed to mean so of course that lead him to go into an extreme panic mode. Thankfully Pedro chilled him out and just threw him one of the leather jackets he had left in the dressing room and said he was decent enough supposedly.
All day he had been so anxious about this surprise his girlfriend had prepared for him. Not that he doubted it wouldn't be amazing, it's just the mystery of it, not knowing what the hell it actually was. But that comes with every surprise he guesses.
Just a mere few minutes before the time, Ambar comes through the door in nice jeans and heels and a shiny metallic pink blazer over a white top, pretty much how he thinks she described to him.
He leans down to kiss her peck her lips for a fraction of a second before she pulls away, her nerves having no chance of calming down anytime soon. "You look great," she says. "But we gotta go right now so let's get in the car, it's waiting out front." she yanks his hand and pulls him right behind her out the door, causing him to chuckle a bit.
They sit in the car mostly silent for the ride. He goes to hold her hand in which she automatically responds by squeezing it. He brings her hands to his lips, pressing a light kiss on her knuckles and rubbing circles with his thumb on the back of her hand making her slightly blush. She was absolutely enamored in the moment.
Just minutes later, the pull up at one of the historic district's theaters, where there was a crowded line of people lined up against the wall of, wrapping around the corner. Simon was very confused as to why she would bring him here. But then once he stepped out of the car, he saw the front marquee which had written out 'Ed Sheeran 14/02' in individual block letters. His jaw immediately dropped at the sight and his next reaction was just to hug the girl.
He had his arms around her shoulders, nonstop kissing her hair and saying thank you in between each kiss. She had giggled into his shoulder, letting herself melt into his embrace. "This is unbelievable," he said after being such in shock. "It's been sold out for months I don't understand. How did you-" However, she interrupted him. "You know I have my ways. And I wanted to do something special for you. And I hope I really did that this time." she giggled.
Simon could only nod his head repeatedly. "No, you definitely hit it out of the ballpark this time. This is incredible," he said, still not having left his state of shock. Ambar couldn't stop beaming from his happiness but noticed the line moving quickly. "Well thank goodness, but I think we should be heading inside by now, so let's go," He instantly agreed with her and let himself be lead inside the venue, mentally preparing himself for the moment he had always dreamed of finally coming true. But there would never be enough time in the world to prepare for such a moment. But he just tried to, and let himself be carried away.
Simon was completely mindblown from Ed Sheeran's performance. He couldn't form a complete sentence when Ambar had asked him what he thought. It was truly astonishing from what the experience was. Ambar had surprised him to see not only the modern king of love songs but his number one idol of all time as well. And there was really nothing that could top that. At least, that's what he thought.
As they were pushing past people to exit the venue, Ambar pulled him to the side just before the exit, where they still stood inside, watching the people flood out. Simon looked at Ambar confused until he saw another sneaky smile creep up on her face. "Ambar... What's going on?" he slowly questioned her.
She pulled his hand towards her as she walked back towards the corner of the lobby, standing in front of a personel authenticated door. "It's another surprise...." she said softly.
At this, Simon was taken aback. Such he huge surprises all in one day, he could barely take it all in. But before he could even begin to process it even further, he was being dragged along once again, up to a set of narrow stairs very dimly lit by the tiny lights fixtured in the corners of the walls. It seemed like forever trying to get all the way to the top, but by the time they did, they were both almost out of breath. Ambar held onto the handle, looking hesitantly at Simon. "Are you ready?" she asked him. He only shrugs his shoulders, having no clue what to expect but overall agreeing. She squeezed her eyes shut tight, as she turned the nob and slowly opened the door.
She opened her eyes and was relieved to see what she had wanted. They were on the rooftop of the venue at midnight, with little fairy lights hanging on strings along with flower garlands intertwined. There was a little table set in the center of the small closed off section with covered plates and glasses of champagne and even more flowers on the centerpieces, scattered along the table, and garlands hanging off the chairs. As well as the small stereo set up playing even more romantic Ed Sheeran songs. It was just as she had envisioned.
"What...How...I-I'm..." Simon stuttered. Completely out of breath and words. There was nothing he could describe other than pure and utter shock. She covered his mouth with hers as she melted him into a sweet kiss in an instant. When she pulled away, the biggest smile she had ever seen from him as well as prickled eyes shined from his face.
She kept her arms wrapped tight around his neck and leaned her forehead against his. "Happy Valentine's Day, again" she whispered against his lips. His heart was beating a million miles an hour and frozen all at the same time, not knowing how possible it was. This was the most extravagant and thoughtful thing anyone had ever done for him, he just had no such way of processing it.
"How did you do all of this?" he asked finally finding the words once again. She smiled, taking his face in both of her hands. "Well I got special permits to use the rooftop for the night and Pedro help set it up just before we got here, so yeah." He was totally awestruck.
He looked down at the floor, his heart dropping a bit when he remembered his plans. "But my plans got ruined and I didn't get you anything else, and you did all of this for me? I just don't see how it's any fair to you when you deserve so much-" He's interrupted by her lips for a brief moment once more. "I don't care if you didn't get anything for me. You get me things all year long at random moments. And I adore every single one of them. And one holiday won't kill it. I don't care if I didn't get anything today. As long as I've made you happy, there's nothing more than I could ask for."
He pulls her into another kiss but manages to keep it for a long while. Taking their time and grabbing each other closer. Being as tight and as close as possible. They take a few inches back to finally breathe once again. He takes his hand to her neck kissing her several time more.
"I love you more than you could ever imagine," She smiles, her heart fluttering and soaring. "And I love you too, so so much."
