Nestled in the rolling fields of Old New Henford, St. Simbert's Church has been the spiritual home of Henford-on-Bagley's Peterans for generations.

Its graveyard is the final resting place of many of Henford's most prominent families, including the Watsons, Bells, and (some of the) Crumplebottoms.

The church also has a small garden to grow food for the poor and gladden the hearts of its worshipers.

Inside, the interior is decorated in classic Peteran style: no unnecessary ornamentation, but colorful, warm, and inviting. The stonework here is particularly well-done and rumored to the work of St. Simbert himself.

The altar looks out on the conservatory - a reminder to worshipers that the Watcher asks us to look beyond ourselves and our needs, to see how we may be of us to others.

Upstairs is a familiar Peteran study loft and classroom. Once, it was used by monks and nuns studying holy works while listening to the service. Today, the study loft is mostly used when services aren't running, but it can serve as overflow seating during particularly crowded services and holidays.

The basement is the most modern space in the building. It sort of has to be in order to continue to meet worshipers' needs. There's a large event hall as well as a commercial kitchen and, of course, bathrooms.

The basement also has a playroom/classroom for children, an office for the ranking sibling, and a crypt.

The crypt, they say, is where St. Simbert himself is buried. Some claim that in Henford's hour of greatest need, he will rise again to lead the people to victory against Vampires, Jacobans, or whoever else needs to be hit with a stone cutter's mallet. Others point out, quite piously, that if St. Simbert does come back, it'll be the same way all the righteous do: as a Reborn Sim with a Burning Soul.

Finchwick Museum

Maybe this is the American in me talking, but Henford-on-Bagley to me seems like the type of small town that would absolutely have a historical society.

And if Henford-on-Bagley has a historical society, then that society needs a place to meet.

And so the Finchwick Museum was born!

The front of the lot has some pretty landscaping and one lone easel, because museums require an easel.

The entryway is ... an entryway.

But head to the right, and things start to get interesting! The museum is a historical museum, so it's decorated to look like a home in Henford-on-Bagley would have Back in Ye Olden Days.

There's also an old-fashioned kitchen.

To the left, we have a museum bookstore/gift shop.

And on the other side of the gift shop is a meeting room.

Upstairs, we have a hallway with a few more "artifacts" - hey, if it's part of Henford-on-Bagley's history, the museum and the Henford Historical Society will take it!

One of the upstairs rooms shows the history of farming in Henford-on-Bagley - which, you know, is a lot of the history.

Another of the rooms shows an old-timey bedroom, complete with an old-timey "water closet" - a bucket to poop in!

Kids tend to love this room.

The final upstairs room is a research room for the historical society, containing research archive machines, an archaeology table, and some chairs for sitting and chatting.

This whole lot was based on a historical society and museum where I interned in college - so it was very fun and nostalgic to build.

I cannot believe I managed to fit two large, well-appointed townhouses on a 20x15 lot.

Let's tour them!

The first townhouse belongs to the Elderberry family. Eleanore had the primary voice in decor here, and everything on the first floor (and the hallway on the second floor) is as frilly and chintzy as you would expect.

The second floor includes a family/entertainment room (that Ekram was allowed to have a role in decorating) as well as the primary bedroom.

(There are bathrooms. I just didn't bother to take pictures of them because small bathrooms are a PITA to photograph in this game.)

On the third floor, we have bedrooms for Rohan as well as a guest bedroom primarily used by (and decorated for) his parents, Edmund and Ana Maria.

Ana Maria and Edmund's bedroom is on the left, and Rohan's is on the right.

Moving on to the other townhouse!

I originally made this for Gunther and Cornelia Goth - but then EA decided they were dead with the Royalty & Legacy update. So now it's owned by the one and only Dr. Felix Psyded.

I think the decor scheme still works for him, though. It's very much an old-fashioned sort of home designed for entertaining - which is what a chancellor of a university would need.

The second floor has a small landing, a study for Felix, and the primary bedroom.

The third floor was designed as guest bedrooms for Mortimer, Bella, and the kids to stay in. Now ... they're just guest bedrooms. Because I was too lazy to redecorate.

Look, if I ever use this house for a family I intend to play, it's going to be a total gut job (at least as far as decorations go), so I might as well wait until that day.

Did I already post the making of this lot as a detailed WIP? Yes! Am I going to post the finished product on its own? Also yes!

In all seriousness, though, I do think this lot came out rather well. I especially love the landscaping - beer garden, veggie garden, and all.

And the interior of the bar is rather twee, but still cute.

The kitchen ... is a kitchen.

Upstairs, we continue with that twee-but-cute vibe - only with some contemporary touches so Simon feels at home.

The second floor of the building (first floor of the living space) is mostly open plan, but it includes a guest room. This could be turned into a child's room if Sara and Simon have more than one kid - or if the kid they have simply outgrows their nursery.

Upstairs, we have a primary suite, an office for Simon, and, as promised, a nursery.

Oh, I had fun with this one!

It was nice to be able to build and decorate a cozy college bookstore. (Every college town needs a bookstore + café.)

There are some outdoor tables so students and townies can take advantage of Britechester's nicer days ... when Britechester has nicer days.

The first floor has most of the café, as well as plenty of books to browse. I threw in a Pride display because why not?

The bathrooms ... are bathrooms. I just took one because they're pretty much all the same.

On the second floor, we have bookshelves, a reading nook, and a children's section.

I think I did this lot shortly after the Book Nook kit came out, so I had a lot of fun cluttering up the shelves.

And on the third floor, we have more shelf and reading space, plus a small meeting room. I had a Sim have a birthday party here once - it worked out fairly well!

WIP - The Gnome's Arms - Part 3

The actual bar part of the Gnome's Arms is done! For the bar area itself, I went for a country twee vibe. The bathroom and kitchen are very similar in style, dark-colored, straightforward, and professional. As long as both spaces are clean and functional, there's no need to get fancy!

Innisgreen

Peaseblossom the Raccoon

What's the point of being a Fairy if you can't keep a raccoon as a pet?

Peaseblossom sure doesn't know. And she's pretty sure her particular fairy, Oberon Gossamer, doesn't know either.

Thanks to that oversight in the rules, Peaseblossom gets to be as Territorial, Mischievous, and Affectionate as she pleases - all while living in the lap of luxury!

Not that Peaseblosoom would care if the rules said differently. She's a raccoon!
