Cuz I'm watching friends who are amazing artists and writers get shit stolen from them and seeing nothing done about it, or worse, seeing those friends get vilified for wanting to protect ownership of their work.
I'm watching issues flare faster than facts can be checked, and friends AND strangers getting hurt in the middle of it.
I'm seeing that artists I don't know personally but admire are, in point of fact, often very cruel and judgmental, and seeing beautiful work couched in hurtful words is very difficult.
I'm in a weird position where I actually know industry professionals, and I have to watch total strangers insult and threaten friends or friends of friends.
I'm watching fights start where they shouldn't simply because Tumblr vernacular encourages us to hyperbole and vitriol, and I'm finding myself having to fight back doing exactly the same.
And I'm not ENTIRELY sure that what I gain from this blue space outweighs any of that.
Maybe between now and Christmas, things will level out, or I'll find some way to see the good in spite of the bad. But right now it's just a pile of gross.
