Hey!!! How did you reach gen 6?! Any tips? Love you! 😄💛

Heya!

Now this is a good question! In previous legacies, I’d always end up getting bored around the generation 2 - 3 mark. My reasons for getting bored probably stem down to how much passion I had for the individual sims within the legacy as well as my enjoyment for the style of play I went with.These days, I tend to go with the flow more! You’ll notice that through generation 1 - 4 or 5 of the Fawkes Legacy, things were a little more story based. I started losing my rhythm and it felt like a chore to come up with ideas. Now I focus more on the gameplay itself and try to dig deep into the minds of my Sims.Just thought I’d give a little overview, but basically my main advice is under the cut. (’: ♥

Go with the flow! Sometimes it’s fun to just let your Sims be Sims and see what they do within their home. It’s good to focus on aspirations and keep an eye on Sims’ whims, but it’s also good to take a little step back now and again to just enjoy what your Sims get up to.

Take breaks! I’ve taken a two month break from the Fawkes Legacy at one point. Sometimes it’s just good to take a step back for a while and then when you feel like delving back in, it all feels fresh again!

Handle as many children in one generation as you feel you can! Sometimes having too many kids in one generation can be daunting, tiring and just less fun. Generation 5 of my legacy had 6 kids! It just sort of happened and it was a crazy generation! I wouldn’t say stressful, but definitely tiring to keep up with all of them.

Play how you want to play! Don’t worry about notes. Play around in different ways to run a legacy. Become comfortable in a play style that works for you. Fancy making it more about story? Go for it! Want to focus on gameplay? Do it! I’m more for gameplay at the moment but I do miss writing bits of dialogue for my Sims. I may start that back up while focusing on gameplay. 

Take inspiration from others! I’ve been helped keep inspired by looking at other long running legacies. It does help to see how others are doing because you think to yourself, ‘Hey, they’re only two generations higher than me! I can reach that!’. It’s also okay to take inspiration from others’ style of gameplay. If you like how they’re doing things, take some inspiration from their style!

HAVE FUN! In my eyes, a legacy is all about getting to that almighty generation 10 mark. It’s a long way to go, so have fun with it! Make every generation unique by trying out elements of gameplay you haven’t explored in a while. Imagine your Sims thoughts, think up what they might be talking about to each other. Evolve your gameplay!
