Jordan: Last time around, when she was Lucy Ripley, she refused to go into the Barn. She ran, almost got away....

Yo, when the Barn showed up "Lucy" ran. She didn't go in, she ran. For an Unspecified Length Of Time. Long enough to make folks in the Guard want insurance she wouldn't do that again.

Why? Obviously because the Troubles didn't go away when they should have. Presumably because they didn't know what would happen if they couldn't get the cycle running again. Presumably because she was successfully on the run for a notable amount of time. And it scared them.

But wait...

Assuming the Barn always comes in the fall... Did Lucy actually avoid going in the Barn till the next May? A whole maybe 6 months later?

Which begs the question... Did Simon Crocker in fact NOT lie/get his dates wrong? Did that camping trip really happen in 1984? Did he actually chase Lucy down?

And when exactly did Duke say his Dad died? Would Simon have faked it? Could Simon have faked it? Was some Trouble involved and Duke was fed a lie? Was Simon revived somehow, but stayed underground from his family? Was it ghost Simon who talked with the real Lucy Ripley?

Are Nathan's vague words actually completely accurate? Was he actually Troubled for "a couple years" in '83 & '84?

haha hey did anybody ever think maybe the only time simon crocker showed any fondness for his son was when he was giving "that wuornos boy" shit. simon saw duke picking on a troubled kid and that was the only time he was ever proud of him—because that was the only time duke was anything like him, the only time he gave any indication that he could follow in his father's footsteps. the only time duke crocker ever got a smile from his father was when he came home from school with a note saying he'd made a boy bleed

but (and this is crucial) he still didn't become the monster his father wanted him to be.

s02e12 - Sins of the Fathers

A gravedigging Trouble brings back dead fathers of various kinds with messages for their sons and followers. The Rev and Simon try to talk Duke into following his father's footsteps in killing people, and Garland tells Nathan that Audrey is too important to Haven for Nathan to fall in love with her.

Nathan tells Audrey about the fight with Duke that triggered his Trouble, and Audrey challenges the Teagues on the secrets they've been keeping from her

Audrey accepts a dinner invitation from Nathan, offering to cook him pancakes and tell him all about what happened with Lucy, but when he arrives at her place ... she's gone.

Finding Duke's necklace there, Nathan assumes he's responsible and charges round there to confront him. Duke insists he doesn't know anything about it, but as they fight we see Nathan's new tattoo. They point guns at each other, and the episode ends with the sound of a gunshot ...
