Simon Murphy
On 23rd September we had a talk from the Scottish, award winning photographer Simon Murphy.
Simon told us about his photography career and how it began when he was inspired by postcards during his job as a postman. From then, Simon travelled to various places in the world but the one place that always stood out to him was Govanhill - an area in Glasgow where he had lived and been inspired.
‘Govanhill’ is the name of Simon’s recent street photography project. It photographs the local people and the community of Govanhill perfectly in a series of stunning black and white images. Simon not only shows the community of a small Glasgow town but manages to capture a variety of personalities in each of his photographs.
