This is my symbol for the Divine. The square is symbolic of both ideal and a belief. Eventually one comes to understand they are one and the same. If one is to implement their ideal, it has to become a belief. Here where two identical squares are side by side, they are the focus, unto themselves they give birth. Not sure yet but playing with the idea. Symbol of will, there converging lines. Will is a pivotal force through which change can occur. If you like it is the extreme form we have where matter can allow us to enter the spiritual realm by having us address the whole. Be it the corner of a table, room or the goose step, will resides wherever divergent plans meet that has us address the whole. This notion of what is whole is the recognition of something’s place, will residing. Change can only occur when the whole is addressed, this is the nature and property of will. This piece was initially conceived in 1981 as a complete lead soldier, but I chickened out from showing it, instead with a series of projected corners.
