I do this review in english, because there is an english edition available. A young man, soon to be an adult, wants to break free. A last big moment before the unstoppable, boring vita of adulthood takes its course. So an acquaintance gives him the challange to experience every deadly sin in seven nights and to write about it. . But he doesn't break free. And then he thinks about it, and in the end the acquaintance thinks about it. You can already see my enthusiasm. The sins he went through are so small. For example his greed was about not granting someone the twenty bucks he made at a horse race. So maybe it is all about senselessness? The book was called a manifesto for his whole generation. Yes, we, who went through no war, have running water and a couch, we really have so many amenities, more than the people before, but today's youth is not falling into any senselessness! . Strauss may be a brilliant historian, but the historical links in the novel made me feel like reading an essay from a high school student. I'm glad it was a short text. I expected at least a little trouble, we're talking about sins like wrath and gluttony, or at least some reflection about this "nothing". Nevermind. .
