snowed in.

The ring box weighed heavy in Simon’s pocket as he sat near the fireplace, blanket draped over his shoulders. “You know, this really isn’t that bad,” he shrugged, “At least, you know, we’re here together.” Okay, maybe it was kinda bad. It was terrible, actually.
Simon had had it all planned. They were going to stay in a romantic hotel for a few nights, go skiing, explore the town together, have sex a couple times a day, and when the moment was right - Simon was going to propose. But of course, it all had to go to shit. The hotel had overbooked, the ski resort was closed for maintenance and Simon had not found the right time to pop the question. To top it all off, they were officially snowed in in their small cabin. At this rate, the roof might as well cave in.
But Simon could tell that everything was making Chris tense - Chris, who wasn’t used to being out of control. Chris, who liked everything to be perfect. So Simon was just trying to keep things calm and help Chris see the bright side of things - even when he couldn’t himself.
