So Bartimaeus is absolutely being a bit of a hypocrite here, and to be fair to him, Simpkin is talking about some random magician he didn’t know. But do you ever wonder if Bartimaeus might have some self-hatred or shame he feels about liking humans that he’s redirecting here?

Like, ‘i may like some humans, but at least i’m not like that.’
