“alfie oh my gOD,” is the first thing out of finn’s mouth as the other does his absolute best to tunnel under his sweater, finn’s voice equal parts surprised, admonished, and amused. alfie finallyquits squirming when he’s tucked completely infinn’s sweater, his head coming to rest on finn’schest.

begrudgingly, the boy wraps his arms aroundalfie, trying to find a comfortable position andalmost failing miserably. finn gives a little huffbefore turning his attention back to his book, wondering how long alfie was gonna stay curledup under his shirt until he got bored.

33. Raising a child together

there’s another sharp cry from the next room, but by this point, finn can’t even tell if it’s from alfie orthe kid finn agreed to watch for the weekend thatbelonged to his now out-of-town trainer. finn’s usually pretty good with little kid, but toddlers aren’t his forte and it’s becoming evident that they’renot alfie’s either.

the other boy trudges in from the next room, glassesaskew and a tired but victorious smile on his face.he’s managed to get the little guy cleaned up, but who knows how long that’ll last. finn decides to give alfie a little break, holding out his arms with a grimace and taking the squirmy toddler in them. it takes a fewminutes of fighting and rearranging of his arms and some mild coercion, but eventually the kid stills in finn’s lap, mostly because he’s got his gaze glued to the tv, where finn is already queuing up a slew of movies forhim to watch and no doubt pass out to. finn sends a grin up to alfie, hair mussed and a large pool of toddler drool finding it’s home on the sleeve of his shirt. it’sa messy victory, but a victory nonetheless.
